We spent a day at Thornhill Farms Hitching Post in Trufant, capturing their wedding venue in a Matterport 3D tour for WeddingWire, part of The The Knot Worldwide
The property's history goes back to 1870, when Emory Trufant acquired the land and built the area's first water-powered sawmill two years later — the village of Trufant took his name in 1875. In 2018, the Thornhill family took on the restoration themselves: cleaning up the original barns and preserving the character. Jean and Jim's attention to that work shows in every corner of the barns and grounds — nothing on the property has been left uncared for. What stands today is a venue built on real local history, kept intact by a family that did the work.
The venue includes a speakeasy-style groomsmen suite, beautiful accommodations for the bridal party to get ready in, on-site games, and ample parking. Outside vendors are welcome, so couples can bring in who they want for catering, florals, and the rest of the day.
