The last couple days have been spent playing around with all the new supplies I got from Creative Memories!

Scrapbook supplies are exciting, but boy is it ever overwhelming when everything is out of the box and you have no idea where to begin.
So here is my little step by step guide on the nitty gritty basics of scrapbooking!

1.) GATHER YOUR PAPER & PHOTOS
You bring the pictures, I can bring the paper. A special day, an event, best snaps of the month, whatever it is you want to put in an album to look back on and remember. Choose papers that are photo safe (acid and lignin free) and that coordinate with the pictures you want to scrapbook. You will find many options at Creative Memories, from single packs of paper to entire bundles that include everything from paper, journaling cards, stickers, embellishments, and laser cut borders to take your page to the next level with very minimal effort. Each paper is double sided, with a different design on each side. Everything in the kit is curated so anything you put together from that kit will fit together seamlessly.

2.) CUT AND ORGANIZE
It is very helpful to have on hand a paper trimmer. Scissors will only take you so far. If you want straight, even cuts and precise measurements, a paper trimmer is KEY! If you need ideas on how to arrange your photos, Creative Memories offers tons of sketches to help get you on your way to a beautifully organized layout. Their most recent sketches include measurements on the different cuts you need to make to accomplish a certain layout.
Now that you have your paper pieces cut, your photos organized and everything laid out how you like it, all that is left is adhering everything in place. BUT......

3.) USE THE RIGHT ADHESIVE!
Make sure that the glue/adhesive/whatever you are using is photo safe! Creative Memories has REPOSITIONABLE, photo safe adhesive so that the accident prone, overly enthused, Mamas-of-a-super-attached-two year old (That'd be me!) can have do-overs if something goes awry!

I would love to help get you started on your own scrap booking journey! If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them. I'm brewing up ideas (and courage!) to host a small beginners class, sort of like a make and take one day. If that is something you would be interested in, let me know in the comments!

Happy Scrapping!

Thank you to everyone who liked and followed my page! I feel the love for sure.

I thought this was an interesting video about the science of nostalgia and how it makes a positive impact on our well being.
As we get older time races by and all we are left with are bits and pictures of what once was. It's kind of sad to think about, but it is life. I am planning on doing a live video either tonight or tomorrow on the importance of using the right kinds of materials in scrap booking so that your memories stay in great condition. I may even do a product demo on the Creative Memories border punch!

Welcome to my page!

I am so thankful you decided to join my little group.

My name is Amity Forsgren. I am a stay at home mom to 3 littles ages 8, 6, and 2. I have been married to my wonderful husband and best friend, Matt, for 3 years now! Aside from being a wife, a mom, and a homemaker, I love to craft-especially with paper.

My passion took root in my Junior and Senior year of high school. My group of friends were Amish (still are!) and the girls had a grand collection of stamps and card stock and inks. I would borrow supplies from them as they graciously allowed me and I would take these things home and play around to see what I could create. That was the spark that grew into making cards for my Mom and Dad. Then during my Senior year of High School I took interest in scrapbooking, so I made up a scrapbook of my last year in High School.

Life after High School became quite tumultuous for me and my zest for crafting fell out of sight as I lived on constant survival mode. In that season God heard my cries and he answered them. Did he ever answer them. In a span of 6 years, he blessed me with a loving man who would become my husband, picture perfect health after a battle with Hodgkin Lymphoma, and eventually he blessed me again with a very tiny but very serviceable space to house my ever growing collection of craft supplies.

So now it is with happy heart that I immerse myself back into my scrap booking ventures and I want to share my journey with you! I hope you find my content inspiring, thought provoking, and all around light hearted and fun, as scrap booking and memory keeping should be. I want to encourage you to document, organize, and put together the photos and tidbits of your life so that the next generations to come may know YOUR story and what you have to say about life as you live it. And what better way to do that than through the art of scrap booking?

Happy Crafting!

Amity.
