District leaders presented schools today with banners celebrating outstanding performance ratings on the Georgia 2025 College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). Congratulations to Sonoraville High School for their district-level achievements in Closing Gaps, Content Mastery: Algebra, Biology, and U.S. History, ELL Proficiency, Progress ELA, and Readiness!


CCRPI scores are calculated using multiple indicators that measure student achievement, progress, readiness, and closing gaps. A key component of the CCRPI is student performance and growth on state assessments, including the Georgia Milestones End-of-Grade (EOG) and End-of-Course (EOC) tests. Additional factors include graduation rates, progress of English Learners, and indicators of college and career readiness.

Closing Gaps: Measures how well a school is improving performance among all student groups, especially those that have historically underperformed. It emphasizes equity and ensures all students are making gains.

Content Mastery: Looks at how well students are performing on Georgia Milestones tests in core subject areas, representing their level of academic proficiency.

English Learner (ELL) Proficiency: Evaluates the progress of English learners in developing English language skills, using the ACCESS for ELLs assessment.

Progress – ELA: Tracks student growth over time on the Georgia Milestones in English Language Arts, regardless of their starting point. It shows how much academic progress students are making year to year.

Readiness: Assesses whether students are prepared for the next grade level, college, or careers. It includes factors like attendance, literacy readiness, and participation in advanced coursework or career pathways.

As we are on the tail end of 2025 we are asking for donations to help us to make it to 2026! The last month has been more than difficult. We keep hitting roadblocks and hardships. Many times in the last couple of weeks we have looked at each other and said we are done and we can’t keep on. Job loss, sickness in the cat house, lack of adoptions…etc. We are tired, stressed, discouraged and feel defeated. We need some sunshine, a glimpse of hope, encouragement…. $300 was raised through generous donations. But we are far off from our goal of $5000. We have over $2,000 in vet bills due, $2,000 in bills due for supplies we needed for the cat building. The rest would allow us to buy some much needed supplies. We are critically low on dry cat food. Always need pine or paper pellet litter. Any donation is more than appreciated.

Plainville Woman Arrested for Drug Trafficking

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

After a 2 month investigation, Sheriff’s detectives from the GCSO Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a search of a home on Moore’ Ferry Road this morning. They discovered a large quantity of methamphetamine for distribution, ma*****na for distribution, hallucinogenic mushrooms, and anabolic steroids. They arrested the occupant, April Kuykendall, age 36, of 383 Moore’ Ferry Road Plainville. She is charged with a variety of drug trafficking and distribution offenses. She was currently serving a probation sentence for prior drug related convictions.

Local Man Arrested For Aggravated Assault, Domestic Violence, and Weapons Violation

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

At about 4am this morning, deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a private residence on Brooksmill Drive in response to a report of an assault involving a firearm. Deputies arrived and subsequently arrested JUSTIN E. FOX, age 32, of 118 Brooksmill Drive, and charged him with Aggravated Assault, Battery (Family Violence Act), Cruelty to Children, and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, stemming from an assault against his wife. A number of minor children were present in the home at the time. The weapon reported to have been used in this incident was located and seized by the officers. FOX remains in custody at the County Jail.
