Gameplay: Long before the era of Temple Run on smartphones, the PS1 had Pepsiman. You control a silver superhero who automatically runs through stages to deliver Pepsi to thirsty people. This wasn't because he was lazy, but rather due to graphical and hardware limitations. Cortex's right-hand man, Dr. N. Gin, has a unique cyborg appearance with a massive missile lodged into the side of his head. As it turns out, that missile is still live and active! It became embedded in his skull due to a failed past experiment. Because it is still live, the missile triggers severe chronic migraines for N. Gin, which is why his personality is so erratic and emotionally unstable.

Ripper Roo's "Crazy" Laugh Was Taken from a Disney Movie
The insane, straightjacket wearing kangaroo, Ripper Roo, is famous for his hysterical, high pitched laugh. Interestingly, that laugh wasn't recorded specifically for the game. The developers used a stock sound effect originally recorded by actor Dallas McKennon. The exact same laugh (just sped up) was also used for a hyena character in Disney's classic animated movie, Lady and the Tramp (1955).

Dr. Neo Cortex Was Inspired by "Pinky and the Brain"
The character of Dr. Neo Cortex was conceived by Naughty Dog founders Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin while they were eating at an Italian restaurant. They wanted to create a big-headed, arrogant mad scientist. Their main inspiration came from The Brain from the popular cartoon Pinky and the Brain a genius mouse obsessed with world domination who constantly fails due to the incompetence of his minions.
