Chichén Itzá was a major focal point in the Northern Maya Lowlands from the Late Classic (c. AD 600–900) through the Terminal Classic (c. AD 800–900) and into the early portion of the Postclassic period (c. AD 900–1200).

The site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico and of the Puuc and Chenes styles of the Northern Maya lowlands. The presence of central Mexican styles was once thought to have been representative of direct migration or even conquest from central Mexico, but most contemporary interpretations view the presence of these non-Maya styles more as the result of cultural diffusion.

Although the kingdom of Pergamon was also included in Rome during the Hellenistic period, the situation in Rome was not very advanced. During this period, the city had city walls made of local poor quality tuff stone. The residences and public buildings within the walls were an irregular and distorted city, usually made of mud brick and wood. The ideal of Republican Rome had a prejudiced and negative view of the luxury and pomp of Hellenistic kingdoms.

There was a Rome whose Hellenistic pomp and aspirations had a cynical and condemning point of view. If this perspective had not been broken, Rome would probably never have prospered. The city of Rome, with its modest public buildings, crooked city walls and poor housing, actually represented a still slum state. After Julius Caesar built a rectangular forum surrounded by stoas, next to the Forum Romanum area, whose senate building was made of plain brick for many years, the senate building made of plain bricks in 53 BC, and the winds of change began to blow as the perspectives on ostentation and pomp were broken would like your thoughts on this book.

An acropolis was the settlement of an upper part of an ancient Greek city, especially a citadel, and frequently a hill with precipitous sides, mainly chosen for purposes of defense. The term is typically used to refer to the Acropolis of Athens, yet every Greek city had an acropolis of its own. Acropolises were used as religious centers and places of worship, forts, and places in which the royal and high-status resided. Acropolises became the nuclei of large cities of classical ancient times, and served as important centers of a community. Some well-known acropolises have become the centers of tourism in present-day, and, especially, the Acropolis of Athens has been a revolutionary center for the studies of ancient Greece since the Mycenaean period. Many of them have become a source of revenue for Greece, and represent some great technology during the period
