Creamy Ranch Chicken Wraps with Turkey Bacon
Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter (good quality for best flavor)
2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (fresh for best thickening)
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream (avoid ultra-pasteurized)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (grate it fresh from the block)
1 cup cooked turkey bacon, crumbled (thick-cut for flavor)
1/2 cup ranch dressing (your favorite style)
2 green onions, chopped (firm and bright stalks)
2 cups cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie or poached for juiciness)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (flat-leaf preferred)
4 large flour tortillas (soft and flexible to prevent cracking)
Instructions:
1️⃣ Make the Garlic Roux:
Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant and soft (do not brown).
2️⃣ Whisk and Thicken:
Add flour and whisk steadily until a smooth paste forms. Cook for 1 full minute to eliminate the raw flour taste, stirring continuously.
3️⃣ Add Dairy for Sauce:
Slowly pour in the milk and heavy cream while whisking constantly. Continue whisking for 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
4️⃣ Blend in Cheese and Flavors:
Add the shredded cheddar cheese, turkey bacon, ranch dressing, chopped green onions, salt, pepper, and parsley. Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth and speckled with green.
5️⃣ Coat the Chicken:
Add the cooked shredded chicken and gently fold it into the sauce until everything is evenly coated in the creamy, cheesy mixture.
6️⃣ Fill and Roll:
Lay the tortillas flat and spoon the chicken mixture into the center of each. Fold in the sides and roll tightly to enclose the filling completely.
7️⃣ Toast the Wraps:
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place each wrap seam-side down in the skillet. Press down slightly and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden, crisp, and firm.
8️⃣ Serve:
Slice each wrap in half with a sharp knife. Serve warm with extra ranch dressing on the side for dipping if desired.
