This magnetic polishing system shows how far advanced manufacturing has come.
A rotating magnetic field drives thousands of stainless-steel pins, letting them flow into curves, cavities, and micro-features that human hands could never finish.
Early powder abrasives didn’t have the force or consistency needed, and that limitation pushed engineers toward pin-based media.
The result is one of today’s most precise, efficient, and futuristic polishing methods.

For over 250 years, this mechanical swan has been moving without electricity.
Built in 1773, the Silver Swan runs entirely on springs and gears, moving its neck and beak with lifelike precision.

What looks like flowing water isn’t water at all.
The effect is created by rotating glass rods—an illusion so delicate that a single break would be impossible to replace.

That’s why in 2008, the swan was fully dismantled for the first time in 40 years—not because it failed, but to preserve it.
Even then, conservators discovered that most of its parts were still original, exactly as they were centuries ago.

A rare look at how early machines blurred the line between engineering and life.
