120 Years Ago Today.....On June 12, 1905, the first automobile arrived in Bodie. This event was considered so significant that it was documented, including the date and the time it took the car to travel to Carson City, Nevada, according to Emil Billeb. The driver was Mr. Lemmon, with Dr. Goode accompanying him, according to Emil Billeb. The trip from Bodie to Carson City took nine hours.

I’ve always loved this photo of my father and his family. This was taken in Martinez in the summer of 1945 upon my uncle's safe return from the Pacific. I love my aunt's lettermen sweater from the local Alhambra high school in Martinez. It is reminiscent of Norman Rockwell's G.I. Homecoming painting. Such emotion. Such a happy time.
