My daughter has been collecting old CDs from thrift stores because Gen Z thinks the 2000s are "aesthetic" now. I figured we'd just nail a few to the wall, but then my edibles kicked in and I spent four hours arranging 400 CDs like I was solving world peace one reflection at a time.
Came home from work yesterday and she's standing in her doorway just staring. "Mom, you actually went insane and I'm obsessed with it." Then she starts taking pictures for TikTok, talking about how her mom has "unhinged creative vision" and she wants to learn how to do stuff like this.
Two hours later she's showing me her business plan. Wants to start her own custom room decoration service, already ordered supplies from three different crafters on Tedooo app to practice on her friends' rooms first. "You inspired me to think bigger," she said.
I posted the time-lapse in my Tedooo shop and got twelve orders in two days from other parents whose kids want disco walls. She's handling the marketing while I handle the installations.
Never thought getting too high while crafting would turn into a mother-daughter business empire, but here we are. Kid's already talking about expanding into ceiling installations and I'm honestly here for it.
Who knew my stoned creativity would unlock hers too?

My neighbor was literally dragging this old dresser to the curb last week. Like, literally dragging it. The thing was beat up, missing a drawer pull, and honestly looked like it belonged in a haunted house. But something about those vintage lines just spoke to me, you know? So I did what any rational person would do... I knocked on her door at 8 PM and asked if I could have it.
She looked at me like I'd lost my mind. "Honey, that thing is falling apart."
"That's okay!" I said, already planning in my head. "I have ideas."
Famous last words, right?
So I get this thing home and my husband's like "what exactly are you planning to do with that?" And honestly? I had no clue. I just knew it didn't belong in a landfill.
I spent two days just staring at it in the garage. Moving around it, sitting on the floor next to it, trying to figure out what it wanted to become. Then it hit me - what if the bottom drawers became the seat base, and I built a backrest where the top used to be?
But here's where it gets interesting. I needed cushions that would actually fit this weird creation, and regular store-bought stuff wasn't gonna cut it. That's when I remembered this woman I'd connected with on the Tedooo app who does custom upholstery work. I'd bought some throw pillows from her shop before and loved her fabric choices.
I sent her the measurements and she was like "girl, what exactly are you building?" When I explained the whole dresser-to-chair situation, she got SO excited. She said she'd been wanting to work on something totally unique like this. She ended up making these gorgeous cushions with this dreamy circular pattern that somehow makes the whole thing look intentional instead of... well, insane.
The ottoman was actually my husband's idea. He saw me struggling to figure out what to do with that random middle drawer and just casually said "why don't you make it into a footrest?" Sometimes I forget how smart that man is.
I painted everything in this gorgeous turquoise color I've been obsessed with lately, and honestly... I can't believe this is the same piece of furniture that was headed for the trash.
Now it sits in my reading corner and I swear it's the most comfortable chair in the house. My daughter keeps stealing it to do homework, and even my skeptical husband has admitted it's "actually pretty cool."

When my brother passed away his daughters asked if I could make quilts out of his Jean's, and he had lots. So I made quilts for his 3 daughters and his grandson. No batting , as the denim is very heavy I used scraps of flannel on the backside.

What can I put on this large blank wall? It is over the stairwell, so I’ll have to rent scaffolding to put anything up there. I have a large clock that woñuld be perfect but I’d have to rent scaffolding twice a year just to change the time and that’s not practical. I’d love your ideas!! TIA!

Roommate ran dishwasher with dish liquid (meant for washing by hand). What do I do about all these bubbles?
I noticed bubbles overflowing from the machine and spilling out on the floor. I stopped the cycle and put down a towel, but I’m not sure what to do about the excess of bubbles. Thanks!!
