Life has taught me that wisdom doesn’t always come from a classroom, and kindness often comes from people who know exactly what pain feels like.

A good heart will always be worth more than money, titles, or degrees.

I’m not going to pretend I’ve been the perfect mother or grandmother, because I haven’t. I’ve forgotten birthdays until the last minute, lost my patience over little things, worried myself sick over things I couldn’t control, and said “I’m fine” on days when everybody knew I definitely was not.

But when it comes to my children and grandchildren, there has never been any question about where I stand. If one of them is hurting, I feel it. If they need me, I’ll rearrange my whole day without thinking twice. I can be tired, cranky, halfway through my coffee, or already in my pajamas if one of my babies calls, Grandma is coming.

They may tease me for worrying too much, calling too often, or asking whether they’ve eaten for the third time that day. That’s alright. One day they’ll understand that this is just how I love. I may not always get everything right, but nobody will ever have to wonder whether Grandma was in their corner.

Some days I’m ready to pack a little bag and disappear somewhere nobody knows my name. 😂

Then I start looking for my glasses, my keys, and whatever else I swore I just had in my hand… and suddenly the whole adventure feels like too much work.

Maybe I’ll run away tomorrow. 😄

I’ve gotten to the age where a quiet day at home feels like a luxury. No rushing around, no unnecessary drama, and nobody needing an explanation for why I’m still in my slippers at noon. 😂

I enjoy people, but I’ve also learned to really enjoy my own company.

A comfortable chair, a warm drink, and a peaceful house can make for a pretty wonderful day. ❤️
