Just a Girl in Camas

Just a Girl in Camas Bringing you local stories and local news about local people. Well, alright, I’ll admit it. I’m a local. And yep, I said it when I was little.

Born and raised in Vancouver, WA and both of my parents are native Camasonians. That I would never live in Camas. And here I am, some thirty years later, living in Camas, raising my family, enjoying my community and loving every minute of it. I love the town, the schools, the community and I love, love, love the people. So when I was pondering what direction my life was veering now that both of my

kids are in school all day, I discovered I was really passionate about my community. You know, the place where you spend most of your time. The place within a 10 mile radius that you shop, drive, visit and run errands of every sort. The place where we are all living right now doing our best on our journey to either raise a family, enjoy retirement or just enjoying the ride of life. Along with my passion for my community is my passion for talking to people, getting to know them and hear their stories. As I’m learning in life everyone has a story. All these stories help me see things differently, teach me new things, enlighten me and help me to become a better person. I’m hoping that by sharing positive stories from our community it will in turn show you an angle you might not have looked from, teach you something you didn’t know and enlighten and put a new spin on things. I’m following a dream of mine by starting this project and maybe it will inspire you to follow a dream as well. My dream is to get out in my community, report on businesses making a go of it out there, people making a difference, and just some good Camas news. Please take time to check out some of my interviews. There are always more to come and I look forward to sharing this great community of Camas with you! I’m just a girl in Camas wanting to share some good news.

One of my FAVES from last night! Sasha and Wini out at Hometown Holidays to help raise money to help pay off student lunch debts. So wonderful and inspiring! I bought a wreath and made a donation for this wonderful cause! There’s still time to help out, stop by or contact them to make a donation! ♥️

Do you have someone in your community that is great, positive energy every time you see them and who is so nice and says hi and you can have a little chat with? Well, for me that is Zac at QFC. Zac has been at QFC for eight years and always is so nice to chat with and helps me find things in the store. Just want to give a special shout out to Zac for his kindness and being part of our community! Let’s give thanks for the people in our lives that bring us joy! 🧡 Kroger

One of the most beautiful experiences we had in Thailand was when our guide took us out into the country from the city of Chiang Mai and explored the Doi Suthep Temple, the Doi Inthanon National Park and the Hmong Hill tribe that lives up in the mountains. These people still dress in traditional clothing, are big into agriculture. grow their own food and craft and create beautiful things for the public to buy. Check out the video where they had me test my skills with a crossbow!!! It was one of the most beautiful days. We hiked thru the forest to see the oldest tree there, learned about their native plants and history. Hiked to a stunning waterfall. In one of the pictures while I was walking thru the market there was a huge terminate nest. But the gentleman lets it stay. Works around it! 😅 I can’t say enough about this day. Will post some of my purchases from here later.♥️

Meet Elfie! This one-year-old lab mix is the definition of a good girl—sweet, snuggly, and ready to be your new shadow. She knows her basic commands, loves a laid-back vibe, and is happy to join you for pretty much anything… as long as it doesn’t involve loud bangs. (Gunshots? Hard pass. Same, Elfie. Same.)

If you’re looking for an affectionate, easygoing companion, Elfie can’t wait to meet you! Visit hssw.org/dogs.

Ended our night in Chiang Mai at the sweetest little spot Mike found. Tucked down a little alley. A delicious dinner, amazing cocktails, a good vibe and what a way to end our time in this magical city. My drink was a Tom Yum cocktail version of the soup! Spicy and delicious!
