The first full weekend of June is a good one in Cambria. Here's a taste.

Friday eases in with the Farmers Market on Main Street (still time to catch it), then wood-fired pizza in the pines at Cambria Pines Lodge and a twilight set from Jill Knight at Harmony Cellars.

Saturday brings art and music together as the "Working With Wood" exhibit opens at Cambria Center for the Arts, with live music all afternoon and evening around town.

Sunday slows the pace down with Seaweed Sunday in San Simeon and Melodies for Moonstoners at Moonstone Cellars.

And that's just scratching the surface. See everything happening this weekend: https://hellocambria.com/events/

Cambria has a weekend coming up that covers a lot of ground.

Friday eases in with the Farmers Market and pizza nights at Cambria Pines Lodge, where the Paul Kent Band plays two sets. The final weekend of Next to Normal hits the Cambria Center for the Arts - Allied Arts Association stage, kicking off a three-night run of the award-winning musical.

Saturday is the big one. The Hearst Castle Foundation hosts Twilight on the Terrace, the annual gala set on the esplanade above the Pacific. Critical Mass takes over Mozzi's Saloon with classic rock favorites until late. Two more performances of Next to Normal at the CCA, and Pricey Diggs plays the Lodge early and late. Up the coast, the Spanky Paul Band plays the Ragged Point Inn summer series.

Sunday brings two of the best events on the calendar this season. The Cambria Rotary hosts the Taste of Mexico Fundraiser at Camp Ocean Pines, raising funds to bring clean water to the village of San Jose Piedras Blancas in Michoacán. Local restaurants like Robin's, Sea Chest, Medusa's, and San Simeon Beach Bar & Grill all show up for it. Later, Cambria Pines Lodge hosts a five-course Winemaker's Dinner with Daou Vineyards in the Pavilion Garden.

Sunday also brings music throughout the day, including jazz with Sunny Wright at Moonstone Cellars for Melodies for Moonstoners, the closing matinee of Next to Normal, and Mark Welch playing the Lodge to wrap up the weekend.

Keep in mind... this is just a handful of events this weekend!

Friday eases in with the Farmers Market on Main Street, then pizza nights and live music with Bobby Santa Cruz at Cambria Pines Lodge

Saturday morning, head up the coast for Meet the Scientists at Piedras Blancas Light Station, a rare chance to talk gray whales, marine sanctuaries, and Central Coast wildlife research with the people doing the work. Back in town, Cambria Center for the Arts has two strong exhibits open, and the music keeps going at the Coastal Taproom with Lynda Tymchek and the Lodge with Mike Campbell early and Linda late.

Sunday slows down nicely. The Cambria Community Chorale takes the stage at Community Presbyterian, Easton Everett plays Moonstone Cellars, and Mark Welch closes things out at the Lodge.

Mother's Day weekend in Cambria is the kind that's easy to sink into.

The afternoon goes slow, with regional art on the walls at the Cambria Center for the Arts - Allied Arts Association and a town that's in no particular hurry. Then the evening turns musical. Live sets at Cambria Pines Lodge and The Optimyst run late into the night, all of it free, all of it the kind of thing where you can stay for one song or ten.

Sunday is for moms. Garden brunch in the pines. Wine country brunch up the road in Harmony. A spring chorale concert in the afternoon, or roots music at Moonstone Cellars with the door open and the coast right there. Cap it off with another evening set in the pines lodge.
