Diamantis “Adam” Zervos the distinguished author of Baseball’s Golden Greeks, and his wife Evangeline Zervos, book editor were honored on Greek Heritage Night at Fenway Park. Zervos chronicled Greek professional Major League Baseball players from 1934 to 1974 and their impact on American society as well. Zervos spent five years researching, writing, and conducting interviews. His interviews were with players, teammates, family members, and legends of Major League Baseball. His research was so thorough that he was able to trace back each player’s intricate Hellenic ancestral roots. Zervos’ engaging book is a treasure for the Greek American Community and we hope that a new generation will be inspired by his great achievement.

Two of Europe’s brightest young stars, Neoklis Avdalas and Alexandros Samodurov, are taking their talents to the legendary program of the North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball.

From the blue and white of Hellas to the Carolina Blue of UNC, the next generation of Greek basketball continues to rise on the world stage.

Following in the footsteps of greatness at the alma mater of Michael Jordan, these two Greeks now carry the pride of a basketball nation with them to Chapel Hill.

The 96th National Hellenic Invitational Basketball Tournament was held on March 27-29,2026 in Chicago, NHIBT President Alex Kountoures and Tournament Chairman Jim Kokkines brought together Greek American teams across the United States. The NHIBT gave the opportunity to players of all ages to compete, form friendships, and connect to our Hellenic Heritage.
