Flash Flood Warning issued October 10 at 11:24AM MST until October 10 at 5:15PM MST by NWS Flagstaff AZ

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...West Clear Creek in
Coconino County in north central Arizona...
Yavapai County in west central Arizona...

* Until 515 PM MST.

* At 1124 AM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of
rain fell in the area overnight, and additional heavy rain is
falling. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding along West Clear Creek
is expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of West Clear Creek.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Camp Verde, Indian Maiden Falls, Hanging Garden, Bullpen Day Use
Area, Verde Lakes, Rockin' River Ranch State Park and West Clear
Creek Wilderness.

This includes State Route 260 between mile markers 225 and 231...and
near mile marker 235...and
between mile markers 245 and 246.

This includes the following recreation areas and campgrounds...
Clear Creek Group Campgrounds.

This includes the following swimming holes...
Bull Pen Day Use Area, West Clear Creek near the campground and
Indian Maiden Falls.

This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers...
Clover Creek, Corduroy Wash, Brady Canyon, West Clear Creek,
Walker Creek, Long Canyon, Verde River and Toms Creek.
Stay away or be swept away! The banks of creeks and washes are
unstable and unsafe during any flooding event.

Low water crossings will become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not
attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

Get out of washes and creeks if you are camping or hiking! Flooding
is occurring or imminent and will inundate creeks and washes.
National Weather Service: A FLASH FLOOD WARNING is in effect for this area until 5:15 PM MST. This is a dangerous and life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

FY26 Pavement Preservation Project Begins Soon
The Town of Camp Verde has contracted with Cactus Asphalt to complete our FY26 Pavement Preservation project. Work will begin Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Crews will be installing chip seal, fog seal, and restriping on the following roads:
McCracken Ln, Champion Trl, Sierra Verde Rd, Verde Lakes Dr, Clinton Ln, Catclaw Dr, Aspen Way, Preserve Dr, Twin Leaf Cir, Olive Ln, Queens Ln, Princess Ln, Prince Ln, Phillis Cir, Cave View, Aberdovey Dr, Mesquite Trl, Cactus Blossom, Walnut Dr, Country Ln, Hacienda Ln.

The "Old Guys" of Camp Verde have officially retired. The group of volunteers who helped the Town of Camp Verde by assisting in various projects to improve the inferstructure of the Town.

2025 Spring Events Calendar

February 15th 2025: Buffalo Soldiers Day (10am-3pm)- In honor of African American History Month, we are celebrating the history and heritage of the Buffalo Soldiers, here at Fort Verde. The first Buffalo Soldiers troops serving at Fort Verde were Troop I, 10th Cavalry of the Buffalo Soldiers. The Troop was organized in 1866 and came to Fort Verde in 1885. There will be living history demonstrations and exhibits at the event as we recognize their contributions to our history. No additional cost for the event, park admission is required.

March 15th 2025 Living History Event: “The Army Field Kitchen” (10am-3pm)- Take a look back in time with a late 1800’s cooking demonstration. Learn to set up a soldier’s kitchen on the frontier. Our living history volunteers will show what army soldiers at the time ate, and demonstrate how their Army rations at the time were cooked.

March 22nd 2025: Mountain Man Day (10am-3pm): Join us for this living history event and learn what it was like to be a mountain man during the 1800’s. Did you know that many famous mountain men like Al Sieber, Kit Carson, and Jim Bridger were all Army Scouts? Learn about the knowledge that made these men excellent Scouts for the military and what it took to survive out here as a mountain man.

April 12-13th, 2025: History of the American Soldier – Sat. (10am-4pm) Sun. (9am-2pm) Experience a military history timeline, from Revolutionary War to present day at the Fort! Encampments, presentations, artillery and military drills, a fashion show, period church service Sunday morning, flag ceremonies and Dutch Oven Cooking demos, are just some of the events that you can bring the family to educate and participate in.

May 17th 2025 Living History Event: “A Soldier’s Camp” (10am-3pm): This look back in time demonstrates how a soldier in the late 1800’s would manage his camp and what he would need out on the frontier to be successful. Come for the physical displays and living history.

2025 SSP Statewide Conference at Cliff Castle Casino Hotel
Camp Verde, Arizona
April 4–6, 2025

We are thrilled about holding the 2025 SSP State-wide Conference in Camp Verde. The town and the surrounding areas have so much to offer and we look forward to taking advantage of its many sites and activities. Most importantly, there are a number of local tribal members, archaeologists and Verde Region Stewards who will be providing everything from sessions to excursions.

The 2025 Cliff Castle Conference offers 2 full days of engaging sessions tailored to Site Stewards and professionals and 1 day of excursions/hikes. Sessions and activities are geared to increase skills and knowledge to better monitor archaeological sites, stay safe while hiking and exploring and to learn more about cultural awareness as it relates to tribal history.

As a bonus -recent renovations have made the Cliff Castle Hotel/Casino into a gorgeous facility and a unique location for our conference with many fun activities and a great weekend get-a-way destination.

o Daily programming from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, plus evening activities.

The foundation and the Planning Committee are working to secure more funding to cover conference expesnses lus extra funding to help provide scholarships to Stewards.

Silent Auction:
A great way to help the Foundation raise funds is through the Conference Silent Auction. Foundation members and Stewards will set up a large area at the conference facility with donated items connected to archaeology and all the ologies, donated household items, crafts, art, books. Stewards also help secure other items by speaking directly to businesses in their community to secure theatre and museum tickets,
hotel packages, sports memorabilia and so on.
