At approximately 11:10 this morning (8-18-2025) the Canon City Area Fire Protection District was called to the scene of a working structure fire in the 700 block of Jewett Street, on Canon City’s south side. Upon arrival, firefighters found a travel trailer and a single level home both well involved in fire. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire and were able to contain the fire to the areas already burning upon their arrival. The home sustained significant damage and the travel trailer is a total loss. No civilians were injured; one firefighter was treated and released for heat related issues as the outdoor temperatures were in the 90’s today. One person was displaced from the home. The cause of the fire has been deemed accidental. Thank you to those community partners who were there to assist, especially the Canon City Volunteer Fire Departments, Canon City Police Department and AMR.
