The timing of the Popes words is actually perfect. Because it highlights what I’ve been trying to tell people for weeks. The same people that claimed we were “celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death” because we were not worshipping him, were also the ones celebrating bombings in Iran. And now many of these same people are losing their minds at the thought that someone on death row’s life should be considered as valuable as the unborn. All of these scenarios are in actuality the same thing. They are all issues. We should not celebrate the death of any one bearing Gods image, whether it’s a media personality, politician, soldier, civilian, prisoner, or child. Either all of their lives matter to God or none of them do. What these past few weeks show is how unserious many take . The matters. Because how you understand the image of God affects everything you believe and what you do. We should not support the killing of the unborn, the killing of prisoners, the starving of Palestinians, the bombing if political enemies, or any other killing. The is an essential doctrine, because it is essential to understanding what makes us matter to God, and what should make others matter to us.
