This little flower proves you don't need a big garden to make a big impression!

Meet 'Little Suzy'! ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ’›

This compact variety has all the bright golden-yellow blooms and dark centers that make Black-eyed Susans so popular, but it stays a little smaller, making it a wonderful choice for:

- Containers
- Balcony gardens
- Small flower beds
- Pollinator-friendly spaces

One of our favorite things about 'Little Suzy' is how much color it brings to the garden during the heat of summer. When many flowers begin to slow down, these sunny blooms continue putting on a cheerful display.

Plant Tips

๐Ÿ’ง Water regularly while getting established, then only during extended dry periods.

โ˜€๏ธ Loves full sun for the best blooms.

๐ŸŒฑ Remove spent flowers to encourage even more blooms throughout the season.

๐Ÿฆ‹ Bonus: Bees and butterflies love visiting them!

Quick Poll

๐Ÿ‘ I already grow Black-eyed Susans!

Have you ever seen a houseplant that almost looks like it's glowing? ๐Ÿ’œ

Purple Passion Plant...

๐Ÿ‘ Love it

โค๏ธ Want one

๐Ÿ˜ฎ Never seen one before

Not only is it beautiful, but it's also a fast-growing plant that's fun for beginners and experienced plant lovers!

Plant care tips:

๐ŸŒž Light

Purple Passion Plants love bright, indirect sunlight. A sunny east or west-facing window is often ideal. Too little light can cause the purple color to fade, while intense afternoon sun may scorch the leaves.

๐Ÿ’ง Watering

- Keep the soil slightly moist, but not soggy.
- Water when the top inch of soil feels dry.
- Avoid letting the plant sit in standing water.
- Try not to get water on the fuzzy leaves

๐Ÿชด Potting

A quality indoor potting mix with good drainage works best.

Choose a pot with drainage holes to help prevent root rot. Since Purple Passion Plants grow quickly, you may need to move up one pot size every year or two.

๐ŸŒฑ Propagation

One of the easiest houseplants to propagate!

Simply take a healthy stem cutting about 4โ€“6 inches long, remove the lower leaves, and place it in water or moist potting mix. In a few weeks, you will see new roots begin to develop.

๐ŸŒฟ General Care

- Fertilize monthly during spring and summer
- Pinch back growing tips occasionally to encourage a fuller, bushier plant.
- If your plant produces orange flowers, don't be surprised if they have a rather unusual scent. Many growers remove the flowers so the plant can focus its energy on producing more colorful foliage.

๐Ÿ’œ Fun Fact: The vibrant purple color isn't actually from the leaves themselvesโ€”it's created by thousands of tiny purple hairs that cover the leaf surface and catch the light.

We had a great time at the Louisville Street Market by Louisville-Nimishillen Historical Society. As always, we love meeting new plant and garden enthusiasts.

It was fun seeing some familiar vendors like Sweet Niblets Bake Shoppe, LLC and Pawsitive Future. We were lucky enough to be in front of The Alley- Cafe' and Bakery and had an amazing lunch (can't wait to visit again).

One of the best surprises was being next to Umbrella Alley, what a great hidden gem this is. Check out some of the pictures we took.

Summer Santa... Little Garden Style!

Who says Santa has to wait for snow?

We put together a little holiday container garden featuring Lucky Bamboo, Wizard Coleus, a young Spider Plant, and a few festive visitors enjoying the summer weather.

The sign says it best: โ€œBaby, itโ€™s warm outside!โ€

It may be too early for hot chocolate and snowflakes, but it is never too early for a little Christmas cheer, or another reason to play with plants.

We will be at the Louisville Street Market on Saturday, July 25th 11am-3pm.

One Plant That Always Makes You Smile

We all have one...

That one plant you can't help but admire every time you walk past it. For us right now, it is our pink polka dot plant in a pink pot.
