Spurwink River Publishing, ensemble music arranged by Joanne S. Woodward

Spurwink River Publishing, ensemble music arranged by Joanne S. Woodward Spurwink River Publishing specializes in reduced arrangements of classical music. Another set will include the above as trios, with the addition of trumpet.

Our original work is Tchaikovsky’s Ballet, The Nutcracker, a reduction of the full ensemble that uses a smaller orchestra but continues to sound like the full ensemble. Our additional selections now include arrangements created for freelance musicians who play weddings and receptions. The arrangements are unique because they are not watered-down versions of the originals. String players will appre

ciate the music’s inherent qualities intended for their instruments. The arrangements hold true to the original music and are more fun to play than many of the existing arrangements meant to accommodate any group of players who may join together to perform. Listings include String Trio/Quartet (two violins and cello with optional viola). These parts can stand alone as trios but are more filled out with the viola parts. There are also Piano Trios, organ, violin and cello trios, and some brass and organ pieces. These parts are available for purchase by mail or download.

We are playing for the Celebration of Life for an eldery friend who has left this world. The piano trio arrangements of Elgar's Chanson de Nuit and Matin will set the tone. Such lovely pieces.

Originally composed for violin and piano probably in 1890 and later orchestrated by Elgar for chamber orchestra. This piano trio arrangement is taken from the chamber orchestra score.

Goodness it is coming into wedding season once again. Though many are using more contemporary songs there are many still going with the classics. Probably the most classic wedding song is "Here comes the Bride".

Here Comes the Bride or the Bridal March from Lohengrin is a long time standard and a very beautiful piece of music, here for String Quartet. For String Trio look in the Flute Trio section.

Having taken a break from the violin I am pulling out easier works to get things up and running again. What fun to look at Bach from the more mature (hopefully!) eyes.

One of my favorite concertos to both play and teach. I always wanted to be able to play it at gigs but playing the solo with the other instruments doing the accompaniment left large holes. Sharing the solo part between the two violins and and working the accompaniment among the other players allows....

Very exciting to open the computer and watch an email come in saying that someone in Denmark - yes, the country - has purchased the entire Nutcracker arrangement for String Quartet. They will have so much fun with it.

Clarke's Suite in D would be glorious in such a nice setting.

The Suite in D for String Quartet now has a companion piece with Quartet and Trumpet in D. Some trumpet parts are original, others have been adapted to fill out the parts and make the set fun for all to play. The quartet parts are similar to the string quartet arrangement but do differ to allow the....

Ah - Sum-sum-summertime! Makes me think of Midsummer Night's Dream and the Wedding March in it's full glory.

Felix Mendelssohn’s Incidental music for “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” resulted in another of the very famous wedding marches that has been badly mangled over the years. There are a number of fun sections to it that are nearly always left out. This arrangement includes all of those sections an...

There is a set on its way to Sweden!

The Nutcracker Spurwink River Publishing’s version of Tchaikowsky’s Ballet, The Nutcracker, continues to be the best arrangement available that utilizes an orchestra smaller than the original, with clear, easy-to-read parts and matching score. Dr. Lawrence Golan, and his associate, Joanne S. Woo...

The 2011 Royal Wedding used this lovely Handel piece with the full orchestra. The original for this includes a vocalist but this arrangement is only for instrumentalists – in this setting, string quartet and trumpet with the parts rearranged to cover the soprano parts.
