Yesterday I had a casual chat with my daughter, and it reminded me just how much I cherish this season of her life. As much as I love being her “idol,” the person she mirrors and references when she talks about life, I felt it was important to remind her that she doesn’t need to rush into growing up.
I told her to slow down, enjoy every phase she’s in, and hold onto the innocence that makes childhood so precious. There’s a softness in not knowing everything about the world yet… a purity in still believing in magic, Santa, the tooth fairy, and all the little wonders that make being a kid so special.
I want her to grow into adulthood on her own terms , making her own decisions, forming her own convictions, and understanding life at the right time. I want her heart protected from the pressures, labels, and expectations that kids her age are often forced to carry too soon.
More than anything, I want her to dream big without fear, to choose freely, to explore boldly, and to know that I will always be her biggest cheerleader. I never want her to feel unprotected, unsupported, or unheard. She must walk proudly in her “five white dresses,” each phase in order, each moment honoured, each chapter embraced.
I have so much faith in my girl. Beyond being her mother, I’m her protector, her peace, her safe space, and her forever hype-woman. Watching her grow is the greatest privilege of my life. ❤️
