“What do you charge?”
I get this question rather often, so let’s answer some of it here!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Here’s what impacts my rates:
-I always have a base pay in mind of what it takes for me to plan, get ready, leave the house, travel, set up, tear down. Performing fire especially is no easy feat. Sometimes one 15 minute gig can require 10+ hours of planning and coordination (and often more.)
Start here.
-I charge higher during peak seasons
-I charge more for last minute requests (less than 14 days notice - how long it takes to ship any new costume pieces needed)
-I charge for my travel time. The standard federal fuel reimbursement rate.
-Any supply costs + transport costs
-I consider taxes + booking fees upfront
-how many props they want to see, and the risk each carries
-I charge more for large scale events where my performance is a main highlight and there’s a large attendance anticipated. More people usually require a higher caliber of production (bigger + more props, more fuel, more movement)
-Permit fees (if I’m responsible for obtaining a permit)
-staffing: how many performers will be needed + a fire safety fee
