A strong open house or a big application-deadline push feels like progress. But enrollment isn't one moment. It's a pipeline from awareness to application to yield, and most schools only market to one stage of it.

If a prospective student never saw you at the awareness stage, no deadline reminder brings them back in. The drop-off usually isn't at the finish line. It's earlier, where interest first goes quiet.

Map the full pipeline before you optimize any single stage of it.

Word of mouth built the business. It won't scale it. Referrals are unpredictable, and they stop the moment you need consistent new customers instead of occasional ones.

Local paid social puts you in front of the people already in your area who haven't heard of you yet, on the platforms they're already using. It's not about being everywhere. It's about being visible to the right few miles.

A great reputation gets you the second visit. Visibility gets you the first one.

Water is the most boring category in the grocery store. Liquid Death turned it into one of the most talked-about brands on social media.

The product didn't change. The positioning did. Metal fonts, shock-value copy, and content built for the feed instead of the shelf, all in service of one idea: make the boring category impossible to scroll past.

Commodities don't have to read like commodities. Liquid Death is proof the packaging of the idea can matter more than the product inside it.

New logo. New colors. New tagline. Same visitors landing on the same page and leaving at the same step.

A rebrand changes how you look. It doesn't change where people drop off, why the form isn't converting, or why the offer isn't landing. Those are strategy problems, and no amount of polish solves them.

Fix the leak before you decorate the pipe. A sharp brand on top of a broken funnel is still a broken funnel, just a better-looking one.

KidsCare Home Health had open clinical roles in markets where qualified candidates were hard to find. Job posts were live. Applications weren't.

Generic recruitment ads were reaching a broad audience, just not the right slice of it. So we got specific: campaigns built around exact job titles, locations, and behaviors instead of a general healthcare hiring pitch.

Applications increased. Hiring timelines improved. The roles didn't get easier to fill. The targeting got sharper.

A language app turned its mascot into one of the most recognized characters on social media, without a media budget most brands could touch.

The strategy wasn't polish. It was personality. Duolingo leaned into being unhinged, responded like a person instead of a brand account, and let the owl have main character energy across every platform.

The lesson isn't "be weird." It's this: audiences follow personality, not products. Duolingo built one worth following.

Hit the blue button, pick a budget, watch the numbers move. It feels like you're running ads.

You're not. Boosting skips the parts that actually make a campaign work: objective selection, audience structure, placement logic, the optimization event. It's the easiest way to spend money without a strategy behind it.

The reach looks similar. The results rarely are. If the plan is to grow with ads, the plan has to start in Ads Manager, not the post button.

A higher ed institution had a graduate program generating inquiries, but not the right kind. Interest was there. Qualified leads weren't.

We didn't start with new creative. We started by finding the gap between who was clicking and who was actually ready to apply.

The targeting wasn't the problem. The message was talking to browsers when it needed to be talking to decision-makers. We rebuilt the audience strategy and the creative around what actually mattered to prospective students.

Qualified RFIs moved within one semester. Same program. Different strategy.

A jumpy first week doesn't mean your ads are failing. It usually means they're still learning.

The platform needs a stretch of stable data, somewhere around 50 conversions, before performance settles. Every change to budget, audience, or creative sends it back to the start. Check too often, adjust too quickly, and you keep resetting the very thing you're waiting on.

Set the campaign up well, then give it room. The hardest part of running ads is leaving them alone long enough to work.
