Sending a child to college brings a mix of pride, excitement, worry, freedom, exhaustion and more emotions than anyone warns you about. One minute the house feels too quiet. The next, they are home for the weekend with laundry, empty water bottles and a grocery list.

That is why we call ourselves College Nesters. We are part time college parents, part time empty nesters and still on call whenever our kids need food, advice, money or emotional support.

ā¤ļø The Next Chapter: Marriage After the Kids Leave
Over the last few weeks, we've been doing a lot of reading and research about what happens to marriages after the kids leave home.
And honestly... one thing really stuck with us.
For nearly 20 years, our kids were our biggest shared project.
Think about it.
Almost every conversation revolved around them.
Who's driving?
How are their grades?
What do they need for college?
Did we pay that bill?
Who's picking them up?
What time are they coming home?
Then one day... they leave.
The house gets quieter.
The fridge stays full a little longer.
The calendar suddenly has a lot more open space.
As exciting as this new season is for our kids, it can feel a little strange for us too.
Marriage counselors say one of the biggest mistakes couples make is expecting things to simply go back to how they were before kids.
But we're not the same people we were 20 years ago.
We've grown.
We've changed.
And honestly... that's okay.
The couples who seem to thrive don't try to relive the past.
They intentionally build something new together.
For us, that became Marraccini Chronicles... which eventually grew into this amazing College Nesters community. We never saw that coming, but it's become part of our next chapter together.
Maybe your next chapter looks completely different.
Maybe it's traveling.
Maybe it's finally taking that cooking class.
Maybe it's volunteering together.
Maybe it's date nights again.
Maybe it's just learning how to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee together without rushing off to the next practice.

Our son decided the easiest way to avoid waking us up for his late night snacks was to move the entire snack station upstairs. Air fryer? Check. Hot Pockets? Check. Sodas? Check.

The only problem? He forgot one important detail: moms donā€™t stop parenting after bedtime.

Summer to do lists looked a lot different in the 90s. Back then, it was tanning by the pool, making mix tapes, and renting Blockbuster movies. These days, our checklist includes moving the kids in and out of their dorm rooms, hosting family BBQs, scheduling vacations, and making time to take care of our own health.
