Q: What is different about Forever compared with other cloud-based storage companies?

A: Everybody else is temporary, and that's spelled out if you read all the different terms of service for these providers.

If you look through the terms of service of Google, Amazon, and Dropbox, all these different services, they all tell you the same thing: Don't count on us.

In my own life, everything going digital was a new concept. I was born when there were no computers in anyone's household! We didn't have a computer until I was in high school, and it didn't do much.

I didn't go to fully digital photos until my last child was born in 2007!! AND, wait for it.....I didn't get a real cell phone until 2020! I was just using a flip phone for emergencies only!

But this little article did really make me think about digital clutter, accumulation (I confess I might be considered a pinterest hoarder, but at least it's organized??) and how we need to shift our thinking of it like we do our physical items. It requires maintenance and occasional purges in order to stay on top of it. Otherwise, it becomes an absolute mess and we don't even remember what is in our digital hoard!

Our photos are probably the most important items that we neglect to maintain now. Cloud storage IS limited (if you're using places like google photos and it fills to capacity, they can and will delete all of it without warning, Facebook photo dumps are not a reliable way to "save" your photos either, I would never trust any "free" cloud service. There's always a catch!)
