Going into the new year, I’m planning to visit a different GA State Park each month. I got started early this past week by heading to Cloudland Canyon to do a little car camping and day hiking with my AT buddy Mad Max.

Good food, good miles, good laughs, good times. We had some low country boil to eat, did about 20 miles of hiking over a couple of days, reminisced about trail tales, and enjoyed a nice evening by the campfire before calling it a night under the stars.

Car camping allows you to take more luxuries when heading out without having to worry about crushing miles with heavy base weights and burdensome packs. I’m looking forwards to some relaxation while still enjoying the great outdoors.

Today is World Toilet Day. It was created sometime ago to help inspire action to tackle the global sanitation issue. Worldwide, 3.47 billion people live without "safely managed sanitation" and around 419 million people practice open defecation.

Here is one of the many privies that are built along some of our long trails here in the states. I want to give a huge shoutout to the many trail maintainers and volunteers that help build and empty these outhouses (and that help keep me from digging as many cat holes).
