SDG Goldens Our dogs are from Europe, bred to UKC standards, and cream so we call them English Cream Golden Retrievers. It can also make training easier.

We raise them in our home using Puppy Culture, ENS, and ESI. We aim to produce excellent service dogs, therapy dogs, and companions.AKC |OFA|Embark At SDG Goldens, we are dedicated to raising exceptional English Cream Golden Retrievers that excel as loving companions, therapy dogs, service dogs, and emotional support animals (ESAs). By focusing on health, early development, structured socializatio

n, and training, we prepare our puppies for a lifetime of success in their new homes. Our breeding program prioritizes health and longevity to ensure our puppies have the best start in life. We carefully select European-imported English Golden Retrievers with outstanding pedigrees and conduct comprehensive OFA health and genetic testing to prevent hereditary conditions. With a 2-year health guarantee, our families can have peace of mind knowing their puppy comes from a responsible, health-conscious breeding program. We follow the Puppy Culture® training program, which focuses on developing intelligence, confidence, and resilience in young puppies. This program includes:
-Desensitization to sounds & environments: Exposing puppies to household noises, medical equipment, wheelchairs, and different surfaces to prepare them for therapy and service work as well as give them confidence to new experiences in general.
-Problem-solving & enrichment activities: Teaching puppies how to navigate challenges, making them highly trainable for advanced commands.
-Emotional stability training: Encouraging puppies to recover quickly from stress and distractions, a crucial trait for service and therapy dogs as well as pets that are taken out in public.
-Crate training – Making housebreaking and travel easier.
-Basic manners – positive reinforcement teaching early manners to help the puppies understand the best way to communicate. For example: puppies will sit to be petted instead of jumping on someone.
-Social confidence – Preparing puppies to be calm and well-mannered in new situations. By integrating Puppy Culture, our puppies are well-prepared to become confident, well-adjusted, and adaptable companions. To enhance the mental and physical resilience of our puppies, we incorporate two crucial early development techniques:
-ENS (Days 3–16): This involves gentle exercises designed to stimulate the neurological system, improving cardiovascular health, stress tolerance, and adaptability—key traits for service and therapy dogs.
-ESI (Days 3–16): Exposing puppies to different scents strengthens their olfactory senses, making them more adept at scent work, which is beneficial for therapy, service, and emotional support roles. By implementing ENS and ESI, our puppies develop stronger problem-solving skills, emotional stability, and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly. Socialization & Community Exposure: Preparing for Public Life
Proper socialization is essential for all puppies. At SDG Goldens, we provide structured socialization experiences, including:
-Raised in our home: Puppies live in a loving household, experiencing daily activities, ensuring they are comfortable in real-life environments. We homeschool our children in our livingroom, right next to the puppy pen.
-Interacting with children and adults: Our five children and visiting friends expose puppies to people of all ages, fostering gentle and patient temperaments.
-Weekly nursing home visits: Starting at six weeks old, we introduce puppies to elderly individuals, wheelchairs, and medical equipment, preparing them for future therapy and service work.
-Exposure to different environments: Outings to public places help puppies develop calm and confident behavior in various settings. These socialization experiences create well-rounded puppies that are comfortable accompanying their owners in public, interacting with different people, and handling unpredictable environments.

Our structured early development program makes our puppies ideal candidates for:
-Service Dogs – With emotional stability, intelligence, and problem-solving skills, our puppies excel in roles assisting individuals with disabilities, mobility impairments, and medical alerts.
-Therapy Dogs – Our puppies’ early socialization with diverse people and environments helps them provide comfort in hospitals, schools, and nursing homes.
-Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) – With gentle temperaments and strong bonds with humans, our puppies bring comfort and companionship to individuals struggling with anxiety, PTSD, and depression. When you adopt an SDG Golden, you become part of our family for life. We provide:
-Ongoing guidance – Support with training, behavior, and health.
-A community of SDG puppy owners – Stay connected with us and fellow owners for shared experiences and advice.
-Transparency – We welcome families to visit our home to see how we raise our puppies with love and dedication.

At SDG Goldens, we are more than breeders—we are devoted to raising well-rounded, highly trainable English Cream Golden Retrievers that make exceptional family pets, therapy dogs, service dogs, and emotional support animals. Goose’s 10-Week Socialization: Meeting the Cows

Today’s adventure was all about new experiences! At just 10 weeks old, Goose joined us out in the pasture to meet the cows. It’s not every day a young puppy gets to take in so many new sights, sounds, and smells all at once — from the low rumble of the cows’ voices to the movement of their tails and the crunch of grass underfoot.

For Goose, this was more than just playtime; it was a valuable socialization opportunity. Exposure to large animals helps him learn how to stay calm and observe instead of react — a key trait for confidence and composure as he grows. He showed beautiful instincts: first approaching with gentle, playful gestures, then reading their body language, and finally choosing to settle quietly when they didn’t engage. That quiet patience says a lot about his developing temperament.

Each outing like this builds his resilience and deepens his understanding of the world around him — teaching him to stay grounded, curious, and respectful, even in the midst of big new experiences.

Goose – 10 Weeks Old
Goose has been doing absolutely fantastic! This sweet boy is sleeping through the night like a champ and isn’t having any accidents in the house. He’s learning his commands beautifully and listens so well for his age. It’s amazing to see how quickly he picks things up — a true reflection of his eager-to-please personality.

Goose is such a gentle soul, full of love and curiosity, and he’s growing into such a handsome young pup. We’re so proud of the progress he’s made and can’t wait to see how he continues to blossom in the weeks ahead!

SDG Training Update: Goose – 9.5 Weeks Old

This evening I gave a quick glimpse into Goose’s training session, and he’s doing fantastic for just nine and a half weeks old!

Commands he has mastered thus far:

✔️Sit, Come, Down, and Heel are all coming along beautifully.

✔️He’s excellent at waiting politely at the front door.

✔️“Kennel” is a newer command we’ve added in, and he’s already doing really well with it.

✔️His leash manners are impressive for his age.

House skills:
Goose continues to do fantastic with potty training and kennel training. He’s even sleeping through the night already, which is a big milestone at this stage.

Current focus:
The main thing we’ll be working on next is increasing the duration of his “stay” and helping him hold his commands longer, even when distractions are added. At this age, it’s less about perfection and more about building consistency and confidence.

Socialization outings:
I like to get puppies out about twice a week at this age to experience new places and environments. This week Goose visited the nursing home on Monday (no video this time), and we’ll plan another outing this weekend—probably to Lowe’s. Next week, he’ll have two more adventures to continue his socialization training.

Goose is smart, eager, and such a joy to work with. Watching him grow in his skills and confidence is a reminder of just how much young puppies can learn when given the right foundation!

Day 35: The Herb Litter Turns 5 Weeks Old

The Herb Litter is now 5 weeks old, and this stage marks some big developmental changes! Their world is opening up quickly, and every day they’re practicing new skills.

Physical Development:

At 5 weeks, puppies are becoming more coordinated. They can walk steadily, start to run in short bursts, and even attempt playful pounces. Their baby teeth are also coming in, which means they’re beginning to chew and explore objects with their mouths.

Social Growth :

This is the age where puppies begin to interact with each other more purposefully. Their play is no longer just clumsy movements — they’re starting to wrestle, paw at each other, and practice little growls and barks. These interactions teach them important lessons about communication and bite inhibition.

Eating & Sleeping Habits:

The litter is now eating “puppy mush” several times a day, though they still nurse from mom. While they continue to spend most of their time sleeping, the periods of wakefulness are longer and filled with much more activity than before. Each day, their play sessions get a little livelier.

Why This Stage Matters:

The 5-week mark is an important bridge between newborn life and the more curious, adventurous stage ahead. During this time, they’re building muscle strength, learning social skills, and adjusting to new foods — all foundations that set the stage for the weeks to come.
