Never Forget.
When the race is tight, election night coverage is tricky … particular at a weekly newspaper which many will read 2 or 3 days after it's published.
When the polls closed in Israel at 4 pm NY time on Tuesday, exit polls reported Bibi's coalition won with 62 seats (so our draft headline read, "King Bibi tops 61" — 61 being the minimum number required to form a government).
But as uncertainly crept in, and our "drop dead" deadline neared, we went with the wood pictured here, along with an analysis by JNS' Jerusalem bureau chief that both reports Bibi's lead (a lead which the actual vote will not change whether or not he ends up forming a government) and also explains the reasons why a definitive win wasn't (at least yet) a lock.
The reporting certainly holds up today; hopefully it will remain so for those catching up on the week's news on Shabbat.

Sunday's NY Times article hit a raw nerve. Reaction to it — and to the NYS Board of Regents vote on Tuesday — are featured on The Jewish Star's cover today.
Our top story provides basic info on the new Regents regulations; the middle story has communal reaction (mostly, negative, but with a positive note at the end); at page bottom, there's JNS editor-in-chief Jonathan Tobin, a vehement critic of the Times and left-wing politics who found merit in the Times article.
Tobin writes: "As much as it would be easy to dismiss the story … there is more here than cultural or religious bias. … The idea that any outside scrutiny is an attack on Judaism is not an argument that can be reasonably defended."
