There will be another, much smaller, storm later on this evening but it shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Monday 12pm North Texas Update from POW Ponder on Weather:
* Enhanced Risk Level 3
* Very large hail 2 inch +
* Couple of Tornados
Dangerous night in North Texas. The entire metro level 3 Enhanced Risk upgrade. Significant threat for very large hail potential of golf to softball size hail. Tornado threat has increased, especially for our Northeast counties.
Two rounds with dryline getting active now by 5/6pm with discrete isolated supercells forming West of I-35 and move into the metro.
A second round along a cold front between 10pm through 1am.
Very active night in DFW tonight. I’m really worried about this one. Please take ALL watches and warnings seriously.
Now is the time to prepare before tonight ramps up. Stay safe everyone.

This is a page I like to watch, in addition to my man Pete Delkus.....it seems to have a lot more in-depth local information!

04/23/2021

Dear Bobcat Parents,

During the Celina ISD school board meeting on March 15, the Board reviewed Governor Abbott’s most recent COVID-related executive order and reviewed information presented by district leadership regarding current COVID protocols. After extensive discussion, the Board elected to amend CISD safety protocols for students and staff in grades PK-6, making face coverings optional in the classroom at teacher and/or campus administration direction. The Board also directed district leadership to continue monitoring the health of our school community, to watch for any spike in COVID cases following spring break travel, and to work with local agencies to help make vaccinations available for staff. The Board requested that a formal review be presented as a safety/security matter during Closed Session at the following school board meeting, which was held on April 19.

After deliberation during the Closed Session at the April school board meeting, the Board directed Celina ISD’s District Leadership Team to further review and revise current safety protocols. Celina ISD is enacting the following protocols beginning Tuesday, April 27, 2021:

- Face coverings for students, staff, and guests are optional in all district facilities and campuses, including in all classrooms, in all hallways during transition times, and during arrival/dismissal.

- Face coverings are optional for all students and staff in district transportation.

In an effort to finish the year strong, and to enable all students to participate in year-end activities, all other current safety practices and procedures remain in effect, including current protocols for limiting visitors in district facilities. The district is currently maintaining social distancing practices and fifty-percent capacity standards at our athletic facilities. And as always, when visiting other districts, CISD students and guests must abide by the safety protocols and procedures set in place by a host district.

CISD district leadership will continue to monitor the health of our community and provide monthly reports to the Board. The CISD Board and district leadership extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Jai Harris-Ellis and staff at Celina Drug who made vaccines available to CISD staff members over the last few weeks.

Sincerely,
Tom Maglisceau, PhD

Earth Day 2021 marks the 51st anniversary of this holiday. Typically, Earth Day is assigned a different theme or area of focus each year; this year’s theme is “Restore Our Earth.”

What Is Earth Day?
Ever wonder how Earth Day began? The first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970, when San Francisco activist John McConnell and Wisconsin Senator Ga***rd Nelson separately asked Americans to join in a grassroots demonstration. Dealing with dangerously serious issues concerning toxic drinking water, air pollution, and the effects of pesticides, an impressive 20 million Americans—10% of the population—ventured outdoors and protested together.

President Richard Nixon led the nation in creating the Environmental Protection Agency, which followed with successful laws including the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act.

McConnell originally had chosen the spring equinox (March 20, 1970), but Nelson chose April 22, which ended up becoming the official celebration date. (Given that the date of the spring equinox changes over time, it may have made things more complicated to go with the astronomical event rather than just a calendar date.)

Today, not only is Earth Day a day meant to increase awareness of environmental problems, but it is also becoming a popular time for many communities to gather together to clean up litter, plant trees, or simply reflect on the beauty of nature.

Join us Saturday, November 21, 9 am - 3 pm for our 4th Annual Holiday Bazaar, First Baptist Church Hebron, 3000 E. Hebron Parkway, Carrollton 75010. We have over 30 vendors inside and out. Start you Christmas shopping to find one-of-a-kind and unique items.
Are we fed up with the cover-ups? Citizens of Celina - OurCelina did a open records request and was denied for ALL items. All referred to the Attorney General to review with an opposition letter from the City Attorney. The citizens can’t even get a log sheet for the Firehouse #2 on who used a key fob / swipe card for entry during a month long time period. No personal info just a log. Remember this Station was only out of commission for a “couple days” for warranty work per the City. Again, I’ve got several friends of mine that live behind the station and all of them said it was surely vacant for 2 weeks. I make one post and a miracle happens overnight, it opens 8am the next morning. I will say it again; this City Manager / City Attorney / Mayor and every single council member needs to go!
EARLY VOTING STARTS ON THIS TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13 The General Election is finally upon us! Over the next three weeks, you’ll have the opportunity to vote for many candidates from President to City Council. Early Voting was extended by an additional week this year due to Covid concerns and the anticipated (VERY) heavy voter turnout. It’s recommended to vote early to avoid crowds and potentially long wait times. The Early Voting schedule at the Celina ISD Admin Building on Colorado St. is below. As a reminder, straight ticket voting is no longer available in Texas. So, you cannot simply check “R” or “D” at the top of the ballot and be done. If you intend to vote for a candidate, you must select that person for that particular race ALL THE WAY DOWN THE BALLOT – don’t stop at the top! For most people in Celina, the ballot choices for Federal, State, County and City races appears below starting with our local races. Remember, decisions by local officials generally have a greater impact on your everyday life vs. decisions made in Washington D.C. So, please consider ALL the races and vote accordingly. That includes city council, judges, commissioners & Collin County officials. During the 2016 election, 69% of Celina’s registered voters actually voted. Of those, about 78% voted early. There are more registered voters in Celina now and turnout is expected to be a record high. SO, AVOID THE LINES, THE WAITING AND POTENTIAL FRUSTRATIONS - PLAN AHEAD TO MAKE TIME TO VOTE EARLY!
Beware! of the Square Part ll is only w weeks away! Are you ready to get outside and have a frightfully fun time? Come to Celina Main Street and Historic Square on Saturday, October 24 for a spooktacular event beginning at 6:00pm. Ghosts, goblins, ghouls & other creatures of the night will be able to enjoy the following for **FREE**: 1) Carnival Rides 2) Themed Music Throughout the Evening 3) Thriller Flash Mob at 8:00pm – Practice now at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iLpVlB-Q_k 4) Photo Ops with Professional Actors/Cosplayers – Keep those cameras handy 5) Free outdoor showing of Ghostbusters (1984 – PG) beginning about 8:30pm - Bring your lawn chairs and blankets 6) CANDY! CANDY!! CANDY!!! CANDY!!!! – You’ll need a bag Also, there will be escape rooms from Haunted Entities / HE Escapes N Stuff with a Haunted Trail ($10 admission per person to support the Celina High School Theater Department) – Get tickets now at https://bit.ly/34bVIMY and avoid the lines. All downtown restaurants will be open, including the bars, so be sure to get there early for a “bite” to eat. The streets will be closed for safety and there’s plenty of space to social distance. Lastly, EVERYONE is encouraged to dress up in a costume (I’m looking at you grown-ups) and don’t forget your Halloween mask! Updates will be posted on the page. The event is open to the public, so all of your friends and family, including those from Transylvania, are welcome to attend. SEE YOU ON THE SQUARE…IF YOU DARE!

Can anyone enlighten me on what is going on with Fire Station #2 our NEW $4MM Light Farms facility. A friend in LF told us they have not seen anyone “staying” in the building for 2 weeks now. I looked all over and couldn’t find anything at all from the City saying it was offline.
