My biggest takeaway from Week 2 has almost nothing to do with rankings.

Oregon had more talent than Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma had plenty of weapons.

Ohio State had Texas dead.

None of it mattered once the other team figured out exactly how it wanted to win.

Talent is great.

Identity is better.

Ohio State had Texas down 23-3 entering the fourth quarter.

That should have been it.

Instead, Texas became the first team in more than two decades to come back from 20+ down in the fourth against an AP No. 1 team.

You can blame the missed field goal if you want. I’m blaming Ohio State for letting Texas believe it still had a chance.

Oklahoma had finally dragged itself back into the game.

10-10. Fourth quarter. Michigan’s offense had gone cold.

Then John Mateer underthrows one, Jyaire Hill takes it back to the Oklahoma 6 and Michigan scores two plays later.

That was the game.

Michigan didn’t need a great offensive performance. Its defense just kept waiting for Oklahoma to make one mistake too many.

This is why college football rivalries are different.

Kansas put out a Border War hype video that Eli Drinkwitz absolutely hated.

Missouri responded by going for a touchdown on 4th-and-9 while already up 10 late in the game.

Then Drinkwitz basically admitted afterward that embarrassing Kansas was the point.

Maybe leave the Civil War propaganda out of the pregame hype.

But please keep the hate.
