The DeboEra is Here: A Salute to Kalen DeBoer, Courtney Morgan, and Alabama’s Entire Recruiting and Support Staff
Alabama fans—it’s time to give credit where credit is due.
What Kalen DeBoer, Courtney Morgan, and this entire coaching staff—including the unsung heroes in recruiting support like Bob Welton—have accomplished in just over one plus years is nothing short of unbelievable.
Think about it: DeBoer took over after the greatest to ever do it, stepping into shoes so big they could swallow most coaches whole. In just one plus year, he’s replaced 70+ players—yes, you read that right—and is now coaching a roster that is virtually a non-Saban-coached team after only two recruiting cycles.
And yet—look at where Alabama stands right now. At the time of writing, the Tide sit with 5 five-star commitments, 2.5 times more than any other program in the country.
People will say, “That’s the Saban Effect”
Let’s clear something up: Even parents of top recruits have disputed that narrative. But even if Nick Saban played a part, DeBoer deserves credit for that too! He gave Saban the runway to stay involved, to continue as an ambassador for Alabama football, to help keep the brand strong. That’s leadership. That’s humility. That’s understanding what it takes to maintain excellence.
And let’s not forget the on-the-field staff—assistant coaches and coordinators who have held things together during this transition, building not just a roster but a place players want to come to PLAY and STAY. Just look at the remarkable lack of transfer portal defections! That’s a testament to the relationships they’re forging, the trust they’re building, and the vision they’re selling. They’re building something special on the foundation of greatness.
Remember, DeBoer didn’t just inherit a program—he inherited expectations set by the greatest dynasty in modern college football. But ge is up to the challenge! His record before Bama - 104-12. He knows how to build programs and winners. And while year one felt “shaky” by Alabama standards (with 4 losses), it also revealed a tantalizing upside (UGA): give this staff time to build culture, chemistry, and consistency, and the Tide will rise to championship heights once again—just as it has for 100 years and counting, dating back to that Rose Bowl that started it all.
If DeBoer and his staff’s player development track record holds true, Alabama’s trajectory is clear: National Championship contention.
