For starters, the red and black face a team that is winless this season, and secondly, the Pioneers will be seeking revenge from last season when the Coyotes posted a 14-0 victory with touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters....

Downey Council Directs Staff to Draft Rules on Laughing Gas and Kratom

By Vincent Medina, Contributing Writer September 10, 2026 DOWNEY — The Downey City Council on Tuesday directed staff to write local ordinances limiting the retail sale of nitrous oxide and high-potency kratom products, while preserving medical and other legitimate uses of the gas and leaving traditional kratom leaf outside the proposed restrictions. The council voted 4-0, with Councilmember Mario Trujillo absent, to have staff prepare two draft ordinances and return them to the council for consideration....

Bellflower Reports 25% Drop in Serious Crime

LCCN Staff Report BELLFLOWER — Bellflower is reporting a 25% reduction in serious crime in 2026, a decline city officials say is outpacing several neighboring communities.
