I shouldn’t have to say this is not great for us - Aberdeen is out as well. not great with that chance for severe storms we have tonight.

ATTENTION: The Sioux Falls weather radar will be offline for up to 1 week beginning Wednesday, June 24th for replacement of the radar dome panels and repainting of the dome.

This outage cannot be postponed for severe weather, and once offline, the radar cannot be returned to service until this work is completed.

Radar data can still be accessed by surrounding radars at Aberdeen (KABR), Des Moines (KDMX), Rapid City (KUDX), North Platte (KLNX), Chanhassen (KMPX), and Omaha (KOAX).

Wind and Hail look to be the biggest issues of this line moving southeast. This is affecting Lake Vermillion Rec. Area so some bad news for campers as this is bringing gusts of upwards of 60mph, And dime sized hail.

Chances for showers and/or thunderstorms before 1pm and a possibility of a thunderstorm between 1 and 3pm. With chances for storms to continue after that. Winds could gust as high as 40mph today. And we’re seeing cooler temps today with highs in the upper 60s lower 70s.

I could write up a paragraph about each days weather until my fingers bleed, but anytime i get the chance to use a green screen i go for it. I used my ‘big boy money’ to buy a screen screen setup to use to bring a better forecast! Camera stuff and green screen is kind of my bread and butter (well at least i want it to be)

Growing up hearing the stories of the tornado that wrecked the town of Chandler and parts of Lake Wilson that I live by is part of the reason I pick meteorology for my future. The tornado leveled the town of Chandler, 34 years ago today. It's known as one of the last F-5 Tornadoes in Minnesota before they went to the Enhanced Fujita scale. For the people that live here there isn't a lot of pictures they haven't seen. but here are some.
