Let’s talk TAUPE

Why do I love Smokey Taupe? It’s rich, warm beige with a slight gray undertone. It stands up well in large well lit rooms without feeling washed out. In small spaces, use Smokey Taupe to create a cozy relaxing feel.

For woodwork and trim pair with a soft white like Benjamin Moore Dove Wing. Accent with smokey blues, warm charcoal grays and metals in oil rubbed bronze.

The perfect natural paint color?

What’s not to love about Ballet White��This paint color is creamy without feeling too yellow, warm but not beige and has the slightest hint of gray for softness. It’s a great choice for any room in the house.

With an LRV (Light Reflective Value) of 72 it’s light enough to use in north facing rooms or spaces without a lot of natural light but won’t feel washed out in sunny rooms. For trim or woodwork pair with soft whites like Steam (another one of my go-to shades!)

Let’s talk taupe.

This muted mix of brown and gray is a neutral that pairs beautifully with warm woods like mahogany or walnut, fixtures in bronze, linen fabrics and accents in cream, charcoal or slate.

My pick for a taupe wall paint color that doesn’t lean pink?

Sea Salt CSP-95. This versatile shade is light enough for small spaces but won’t feel washed out in larger rooms. It leans more brown in south and west facing spaces and takes on a softer more gray (but not cold) tone in east or north facing rooms.

For woodwork, cabinets or trim, try Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace for a crisp contrast or Dove Wing for a softer pairing.

This soft cool toned gray has a slight green/blue undertone perfect for creating a relaxing space.

It looks beautiful with any wood tone. For fabrics, bedding or accessories pair with soft blush, linen, creamy white or warm charcoal and buttery brown leathers.

TIP: In north facing rooms this color will appear more gray and cooler with a more pronounced blue hue so try a sample to make sure it doesn’t feel too cold.

Quiet Moments?

It’s a beautiful mix of blue, green and gray that gives a sea glass quality to this soothing shade.

With a hint of gray, Quiet Moments is relaxing and calm while still remaining fresh and airy. In rooms with plenty of natural light more green undertones will be noticeable. In north facing rooms or those without a lot of natural light, blue tones will be more dominant.

For trim, woodwork and doors you can’t go wrong with the crisp contrast to Chantilly Lace. For a softer pairing try Quiet Moments with Benjamin Moore Steam - which has a slight creaminess.
