🌴✨ MIAMI NIGHTS + DO ME RIGHT ✨🌴
A freestyle mashup by Natasha Burnette
This was such a fun creative experiment for me. I took my Miami Nights vibe and blended it together with Do Me Right to create my very first mashup made for the dance floor. I wanted it to feel warm, electric, feminine, dreamy, and full of that late-night Miami energy — neon lights, glitter, beautiful people, music floating through the streets, and that feeling of just letting go for a moment.
A lot of my music starts as freestyle emotion first. I build from feeling, atmosphere, and visual energy. Then I layer vocals, textures, harmonies, and production together to create something cinematic and immersive. This one was all about movement, nightlife, confidence, softness, rhythm, and vibe.
This mashup was created as an artistic expression and a celebration of sound, visuals, and creative freedom.

“AN ORDINARY THING”
A Jazz Freestyle
~ Natasha Burnette

This piece is different from many of my other songs because this one is truly a freestyle. I didn’t sit down and carefully structure every note or overproduce every emotion. I simply sang. What you are hearing is me — my voice, my writing, my cadence, my emotions, my imperfections, and my expression in the moment.

I write my own lyrics and sing my own vocals freehand. The only enhancement used is studio layering technology to help create the fullness and depth that I physically cannot produce alone without access to a professional studio environment. It helps shape the atmosphere around my voice, but the soul of the song remains mine completely.

Some songs I create are artistic experiments, cinematic concepts, or layered character pieces. But songs like this are much more personal. They are moments captured in sound. Raw emotion. Improvised feeling. A stream of consciousness wrapped in jazz, soul, and atmosphere.

“An Ordinary Thing” is about the strange beauty hidden inside everyday emotions — longing, reflection, memory, softness, survival, desire, loneliness, hope. The things we often call ordinary are sometimes the very things that shape us most deeply.

This song was not manufactured.
It was felt.

“A Fool In Love” is an intimate jazz freestyle by Natasha Burnette — created in the moment, from instinct, emotion, and pure musical flow.
This song lives in that late-night candlelight space where vulnerability meets elegance. Built on warm acoustics, soft syncopation, and smoky jazz textures, Natasha’s voice moves like cognac: rich, smooth, powerful, and slow-burning.
Known for creating spontaneous one-take “jazz freestyles,” Natasha captures emotion before it can be filtered or overthought. The result is honest, cinematic, and deeply human.
“A Fool In Love” explores the beauty of surrender — the softness of loving anyway, even when love makes you reckless, open, hopeful, and exposed. There’s strength in the delivery, but tenderness in every breath.
This is not manufactured emotion.
This is atmosphere.
This is feeling.
This is jazz soul in real time.
Written, performed, and creatively directed by Natasha Burnette.

I thought I had posted this, but i'm looking for it and I don't see it. This is a song I wrote for Alvin during a time when he was really struggling. It was nearing the end of his life and he just felt like, I think his medicine was messing with him a bit, he felt like a burden. I wrote this and and tried reminded him how loved he was. We spent some of the most wonderful moments together as a family.

Grief does not move in straight lines.
Some days you laugh.
Some days you can barely breathe.
Some days you open an urn and realize loss is real all over again.

Today, I moved my husband’s ashes into his urn.
It was hard.
Heavy in a way words don’t fully explain.

My daughter and I sat together watching old videos, reminiscing, laughing, crying, remembering the small things that made him him. And I realized something important:

Healing is not pretending you are okay.
Healing is allowing your nervous system to safely feel what it has been carrying.

Grief comes in waves.
Sometimes softly.
Sometimes like a flood.

And if you keep forcing it down, eventually the body carries what the mouth never released.

So if you are grieving someone today, I want you to know this:

Your feelings are valid.
Your exhaustion is valid.
Your numbness is valid.
Your tears are valid.

You do not have to rush your healing to make other people comfortable.

What has helped me:
• Deep slow breathing when my chest tightens
• Letting myself cry instead of suppressing it
• Watching old memories when I’m ready
• Sitting still and allowing the emotion to move through instead of fighting it
• Reminding myself that love does not disappear just because someone is gone physically

One thing that helps calm the nervous system is simple intentional breathing:

Breathe in slowly through your nose for 4 seconds.
Hold for 4 seconds.
Exhale slowly for 6–8 seconds.

Longer exhales tell the body:
“You are safe right now.”

And sometimes that tiny moment of safety is enough to get through the next wave.

If you are grieving right now, be gentle with yourself.
You are not weak for feeling deeply.
You loved deeply.

And love leaves echoes.
