Fleeing man ducked into Ranson home’s trash can

RANSON – A Ranson resident discovered a man fleeing police last week hiding inside his backyard trash can.

The fleeing man, identified as 20-year-old Racardo Agu Turner of Park Street in Charles Town, was found with a “golf ball” size lump of crack when police arrested him about midday last Thursday, according to Jefferson County Magistrate Court records.

Turner, who told police he was an illegal immigrant from West Africa, was arrested near a Valley Branch Drive home in Ranson where he was spotted inside the trash can.

Turner allegedly ran to the Ranson homeowner’s back yard after a state police officer stopped and questioned him in his nearby Charles Town neighborhood along Park Street, according to court documents. The police officer had responded to a 911 call about “suspicious males” in the
neighborhood.

The neighborhood sits across a set of railroad tracks from the Ranson home where Turner attempted to hide.

Turner was charged with felony possession of an illegal drug with intent to deliver. He was released from jail after posting a $20,000 bond, according to court records.
