There’s just something about mornings like this.✨️

The holler is still quiet, the sun is barely coming up, and the rest of the world hasn’t quite started moving yet.

No rushing. No noise. Just home.

I think these little ordinary moments are the ones I’m going to miss the most someday.

The girls are sure enjoying their watermelon scraps on this hot day. 🍉

This watermelon was such a good find from John Critchfield Farm Stand at the Capitol Market - Charleston, WV . I love shopping local and supporting our local farmers, but I also love that so much of what feeds our family ends up feeding our animals too.

We really are big on not wasting around here. Fruit and veggie scraps? The girls are more than happy to take care of those.

People are always surprised by how many of our kitchen scraps go to the chickens, but honestly, they LOVE it. Around here, somebody is usually willing to eat it. 😂

What scraps do your chickens go absolutely crazy for?

Fall is right around the corner, and we’re more than ready for fire pit season over here.

Cooler evenings, the string lights on, a fire going, and just enjoying being outside a little longer. This is one of our favorite ways to end the day. 🍂🔥

I’ve been watching my hummingbird camera pretty close today and haven’t seen one yet. Now I’m wondering if mine have officially headed out for the year.
