Big weekend in . Des and I were proud to walk with our St Peter's Episcopal Church - Charlotte, NC at Charlotte Pride woth other churches, businesses and groups today! Lots of love and good energy all around. Got some pics of some other groups, too. Grateful to all the volunteers. And thanks to the peeps who stayed on our church lawn to hand out snacks and water.

Raising my glass to government of the people, by the people and for the people:
~Tomorrow is the 20-year anniversary of legislation that made craft beer making legal in N.C. The grassroots effort in the N.C. General Assembly was led by Durham beer enthusiast Sean Lilly Wilson. I met Sean at a Southern Foodways Alliance event in Chapel Hill in 2005 right after the initiative had passed. New to work with Visit North Carolina at the time, I wrangled a front row seat at the storytelling table as small yet mighty breweries resurrected dumpy downtowns and inspired economic development and tasty sips and gatherings across N.C.
🍻Sean opened his own plow-to-pint brewery, Fullsteam, a short time later. Sean stumped for with VisitNC on media missions in many cities, including NYC, Atlanta and here in NC.
🍺 The photo on the left below was taken in 2017 at a collaborative beer dinner at The Asbury at the Dunhill Hotel in CLT; the idea of makers like Sean coming together with chefs and diners was the inspiration for that innovative series. I LOVED putting it together and promoting it. Diners loved coming to it.
