Adorable photos of Marilyn and Jack Lemmon with director Billy Wilder on the set of "Some Like it Hot." Coronado Beach, where they filmed the movie, is absolutely gorgeous. Although the movie takes place in Florida, it was shot in Coronado, which is a little "island" right off of San Diego, California. I grew up going to the beach here. The hotel is majestic. This year they are paying tribute to Marilyn more than ever.

At Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, 1957, Marilyn Monroe took the ceremonial first kick at a soccer match. After the kick, she paraded around the field in a convertible while both teams walked behind her. Because why wouldn't they?!?

Soccer was still a novelty in America at the time. Marilyn Monroe was not. The crowd went wild.

On October 7th, 1954, Marilyn was at a press conference to announce her separation from second husband Joe DiMaggio, her divorce of whom came later that month. They had only been married since February of that year. According to many of their friends, they seemed like a perfect match: the most famous baseball player in the world and the most famous actress in the world.

But perhaps that's what caused the rift; not to mention that Marilyn was 12 years younger than Joe, a whole generation. There were things about him in his younger years she didn't understand.

While Joe's temper boiled over her famous skirt scene in "The Seven Year Itch," one of the last examples of their misunderstanding came when the paparazzi and people cheered at them in a crowd and Marilyn proclaimed to Joe, "You've never heard applause like that!" To which he responded, "Yes I have."
