"i found god inside and i loved her, i loved her fiercely"
— Ntozake Shange

This line changed everything for me.

Not God out there, demanding, judging, requiring performance. But God within—feminine, fierce, already present, already loving.

For those of us who left high-control religion, finding the divine inside ourselves (not in doctrines, not in authority figures, not in buildings) can feel revolutionary. Heretical, even.

But what if the sacred you were seeking was never outside you?

What if divinity lives in your body, your intuition, your deep knowing?

What if you could love her—that inner spark, that essence, that truest self—fiercely, without needing anyone's permission?

This is the journey: from seeking God's approval to discovering God within. From trying to earn divine love to recognizing you are made of it.

Where have you found divine wisdom inside yourself?

As I watched these bright golden flowers dry I saw their colors deepen into a bold beauty. I thought about how some may consider them “dead” whilst I see a transition to a new state of being in them. Autumn is such a season of transition - away from bright sunlight and busy activity toward dark skies lit by the moon and slow intentional movement. Let’s embrace the things that are “dying” to make space for new life. 🌼🌕🦫

In my recent travels I’ve been able to capture some really gorgeous reflections. This weekend I meditated on the changing autumn leaves in the sky perfectly reflected on the water. It struck me though the images were the same, the reality of each experience was not. Sky side dry and solid. River side wet and fluid. I think our human spiritual experience if often like this. We choose duality over integration found in the middle where the shore meets the sea. We make an either / or choice rather than embrace the both-and. I encourage us all to lean into the embodiment of the shoreline - sandy ground beneath our feet, and water washing over our ankles, and inhabit fully the whole of who we are. 🌊 🤲⛰️

This is why fall is my favorite season. It’s not pumpkin spice and everything nice. It’s the way the darkness shows us a whole new light. It’s not that it’s less than or diminished, it’s that it’s offering us an invitation to a different way of seeing it. It’s like that when we do our own shadow work, and we discover we’re not meant to emit one blinding light, rather let all the healed holes in our hearts light up the world with our very own soul stars as deeply stunning as those of Mother Nature. ✨🌟💫

I was raised in the kind of fundamentalist movements that landed us with this oppressive regime. What I learned there can also free us. The biggest lesson? Persistence is powerful. People are powerful. Fighting suppression with showing up and showing out creates the momentum for the movement. What a beautiful day for democracy. Let’s keep the energy flowing for this great experiment to evolve and enlighten. 🇺🇸🌿🌎 The Order of Saint Hildegard

I’ve been hearing from several of my friends that their go-to spiritual practices are just not connecting right now. I’ve found myself in a similar season. As I thought about it I realized the practice is people. The ritual is relationship. As I shared this in conversations I’ve noticed a drop of the shoulders, a sigh of relief. What we were doing in those conversations was indeed practice. We have our own little rituals like noticing the moonset or blooming coffee messages. I received these gorgeous golden flowers from a bright golden soul in my life. Connection with those beloved to us grows our connection to Spirit and self, and vice versa. That kind of reciprocity is powerful because it’s perpetual. The practice is people. The ritual is relationship. 🌼🔗🫶
