THIS GETS DEEP.


There’s making dinner… and then there’s feeding everybody.

If you grew up around Southern fish fries, family reunions, tailgates, church cookouts, or backyard seafood boils, you know exactly what I mean. Somebody was always standing over the fryer, everybody else was hanging around waiting on that next hot batch, and somehow the food became the center of the whole day.

This 12-gallon outdoor fryer and Cajun boiler was made for those moments.

And this thing isn't playing around.

You’re looking at a huge 30" × 25" × 10" stainless-steel cooking tub backed by two 150,000-BTU propane burners that’s 300,000 BTUs of total cooking power.

Load it up for crawfish, shrimp, crab, and full seafood boils or use the basket for big batches of fried chicken, fish, wings, turkey, and more.

But here's the part that caught our attention: that hand crank.

Instead of trying to muscle a heavy basket out of screaming-hot oil or boiling water, the overhead system lets you raise and lower the basket with the crank. You’ve also got a built-in thermometer for monitoring temperature and a drain valve that makes dealing with all that oil or water afterward a whole lot easier.

And yes, the whole thing has wheels.

Four caster wheels let you roll this cooking station where you need it, then locking brakes help keep it planted when it's time to get down to business.

🏈A SLICE OF HUMBLE PIE, SERVED DOWN UNDER


Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers just served the preseason Super Bowl favorites a 27-7 reality check in Australia.

Purdy went 25-of-34 for 205 yards and three touchdowns as San Francisco erased an early 7-3 deficit with 24 unanswered points.

Mike Evans made his 49ers debut count: six catches, 49 yards and a touchdown.

Deebo Samuel added six catches, a 45-yard kickoff return and the touchdown that capped a punishing 99-yard drive.

Christian McCaffrey helped keep the machine moving as San Francisco piled up 174 rushing yards and 379 yards of total offense.

And the Rams’ newest defensive monster, Myles Garrett?

Zero tackles. Zero sacks. Zero quarterback hits.

That flight home from Melbourne just got a little longer.

Aaron Donald was out, and it’s only Week 1. Rams fans have that.

"AGAINST ALL ODDS" 🏈

There’s a strange quiet hanging over Columbia Sc, right now.

Not the peaceful kind. The kind you get in a kitchen five minutes before dinner service, when the knives have been sharpened, the burners are hot, everybody knows their station and nobody feels the need to explain what’s coming.

That feels a lot like Shane Beamer’s Gamecock Football South Carolina Gamecocks.

Last season hurt. Four wins. Eight losses. An offense that never became what people thought it could be.

LaNorris Sellers spent far too much time trying to survive instead of simply playing quarterback. He was sacked more than forty times, behind an offensive line that became one of the biggest questions surrounding the program.

Beamer could have made excuses.

Instead, he went to work.

Kendal Briles was handed the offense. Randy Clements came with him from TCU to rebuild the offensive line.

Stan Drayton took over the running backs. Then South Carolina attacked the portal, bringing in eight veteran offensive linemen as part of a massive offseason roster overhaul.

Those aren't cosmetic changes.

Those are a coach admitting what didn't work, tearing into the machinery and replacing parts.

And now we get to LaNorris Sellers.

Everybody has an opinion about number sixteen. That's what happens when you're six-foot-three, two hundred forty pounds, possess that kind of arm and athleticism, and once played well enough to become the national Freshman Offensive Player of the Year.

But here's the question nobody can answer yet:

What does Sellers look like when he isn't running for his life?

That's what makes this season fascinating.

Give that young man protection. Give Briles time to move pieces around him. Give Nyck Harbor room to stretch a defense.

Let Mazeo Bennett Jr., Donovan Murph and this new collection of weapons go to work. Let the rebuilt line turn second-and-long into something other than an emergency.

Then let's judge him.

On the other side of the ball waits Dylan Stewart already an AP preseason first-team All-American the kind of edge player offensive coordinators spend Tuesday nights trying to figure out and Saturday afternoons discovering they never did.

And underneath the established names, something else is growing.

Freshman defensive back J’Zavien Currence arrives from Rock Hill after winning a state championship and South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year honors.

Darius Gray comes in as one of the country's most highly regarded young offensive linemen. Sequel Patterson brings legitimate two-way athleticism.

Landon Duckworth is in the quarterback room. This isn't simply a roster being patched together. It's a roster being reconstructed.

And through all of it, Beamer remains Beamer.

He isn't pounding the table demanding anybody believe him. He isn't feeding opponents bulletin-board material.

At SEC Media Days, he talked about roster building, the portal and making difficult decisions rather than simply throwing money at every problem.

That's the thing about Shane Beamer.

He walks softly.

But don't mistake quiet for weakness.

Sometimes the most dangerous man in the room is the one who doesn't need to tell you what he's planning.

So maybe that's why Columbia feels different.

We don't really know what South Carolina has been cooking all summer.

Good.

The first game at Kent State we will eventually find out.

The SEC will find out.

And the rest of us will finally get our answer somewhere between the first snap, the first Sellers deep ball, the first Dylan Stewart collision and the first roar rolling out of Williams-Brice.

No speeches.

No excuses.

No predictions necessary.

Just put the ball down.

Against all odds.

Time to quiet the noise. Spurs Up!

JUNE 9, 1996 SEATTLE (The Comeback)


Michael Jordan walked onto the floor for Game 3 of the NBA Finals dressed in black. Black Bulls uniform. Black patent leather around his feet. That unmistakable red underneath.

By the end of the night, Mike had 36 points, and Chicago had beaten Seattle 108–86

And remember this was Seattle.

The Bulls were the visitors, but by 1996 Jordan mania had become something bigger than home court. Everywhere Chicago went, people wanted to see him. You weren't just going to a basketball game anymore.

You were going to see Michael Jordan.

And sneakerheads were watching his feet.

Air Jordan 11. Black/Red. The pair we now call the “Bred” XI.

Man, you had to be there.

No sneaker apps. No StockX. No resale charts telling you what was hot. You saw Mike wearing something on television, waited on that Eastbay catalog, walked into Foot Locker and prayed your parents wouldn't lose their minds when they saw the price.

And this shoe looked like nothing else.

Black mesh. That beautiful sweep of patent leather. White midsole. Red bottom.

Black. White. Red. Chicago.

Jordan had returned from baseball the year before. Orlando knocked Chicago out. People wondered whether Mike could really come all the way back.

Then came 72–10. Scoring title. MVP. The Finals.

This wasn't a comeback anymore.

It was an onslaught.

A week after that night in Seattle, Jordan finished it. Championship No. 4. His first title after returning from baseball.

And somehow, the Bred XI became stitched into the memory of all of it.

That's why nearly 30 years later, a real sneakerhead can look at this shoe and immediately go somewhere.

Maybe you had them. Maybe you destroyed them hooping. Maybe Mom saw that price and shut the whole conversation down.

Or maybe you never got them.
