From the Front Lines to Leadership: My Journey and My Resolve

When I first stepped into the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office as a Detention Officer, I saw firsthand the dedication and challenges that come with serving our community. Working inside the jail, I learned what it truly means to uphold safety, discipline, and fairness in an environment that is too often overlooked.

After leaving law enforcement, I continued my career and was elected by my fellow union members to serve as a Shop Steward. This role was not given to me, I earned it through trust, leadership, and a commitment to standing up for workers rights. In this position, I fight for fairness, accountability, and respect in the workplace, ensuring that those I represent have a voice. That experience reinforces my belief that real leadership means standing up for those who cannot always speak for themselves.

I was not always deeply involved in politics. Like many people, I believed that leaders would step up and do what is right on their own. Over the years, I have seen what happens when we leave things in the hands of the wrong people. Waiting for change is not enough, I have to be the change.

That is why I am stepping up and running for Mecklenburg County Sheriff. Leadership in law enforcement must be about more than just holding a title. It must be about taking responsibility, protecting the community, and ensuring that the men and women serving under this badge are supported, trained, and led with integrity.

I am running because we need real accountability. I have seen what happens when leadership fails, when those in power refuse to listen, when responsibility is avoided, and when the people who pay our salaries, the hardworking families of Mecklenburg County, are left with nothing but excuses. The people deserve better. They work hard, pay taxes, and expect a Sheriff’s Office that truly serves them, not one riddled with dysfunction and neglect. I refuse to let that continue.

Hardworking families deserve safer neighborhoods, deputies deserve real leadership, and the community deserves a Sheriff’s Office that respects the trust the public places in it. The people deserve a Sheriff who leads with honor, strength, and unwavering accountability.

My journey has prepared me for this moment. My resolve is unshakable. With your support, we will bring real leadership back to the Sheriff’s Office.

Former Chief Deputy Speaks Out on Sheriff McFadden’s Failed Leadership

Chief Deputy Kevin Canty has officially resigned from the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, calling out a toxic work environment, abuse of power, and unprofessional leadership.

In his resignation letter, Canty describes the department as a “third-world dictatorship” where intimidation, retaliation, and dysfunction have become the norm. He accuses McFadden of failing to lead, using racist and divisive language, and fostering a culture of fear instead of professionalism.

After six years in office, McFadden can no longer blame past administrations. The problems at MCSO are his problems. The leadership has failed, and the community and employees are paying the price.

The people of Mecklenburg County deserve better.

Under my administration, there will be zero tolerance for racism, sexism, bullying, or any form of discrimination within the Sheriff’s Office. Every Deputy and officer , regardless of background, will be expected to uphold professionalism and respect. Those who engage in corruption, favoritism, or abuse of power will not have a place in the department. The people of Mecklenburg County deserve leadership that enforces fairness, accountability, and integrity at every level. My priority is to restore trust, protect the community, and ensure that the Sheriff’s Office operates with the highest standards.

Accountability and leadership are what will change this county. As Sheriff, I plan to hold myself accountable and hold my command staff accountable.

This means showing up at the Detention Center regularly, checking in with command staff, and ensuring they are properly trained. This approach will help them remain compliant and effective in carrying out their duties.

This Campaign is about YOU, not me. It's about your safety and security. It's about protecting the community you invest in every time you get paid. You are financing your leaders, politicians, Police, Deputies. It's time we serve YOU only, Not ourselves and personal ambitions, career ladders etc. You have to share with the world and get this out to everyone you know in Mecklenburg County! Share all my posts if you can! It's for your future, The future of the hard working men and women of this County, The Women who suffer silently from domestic violence, The children who suffer from abuse, the future of the detention officers who are suffering, the future of the deputy sheriffs who are in constant pain. 🙏

Children and their protection.

The reason i am so adamant about protecting children is because they are the future. They will be the leaders of tomorrow.

Without my parents protecting me I would not be running for Sheriff today. I could be one of these offenders in the housing pods.

Or even worse Dead!

I Could have been out causing problems to the public. committing major crimes. We all could have been.

Protecting children is extremely important. They are the ground work of tommorow.

Protecting children means to protect their mental health, their physical health.

To protect their CONFIDENCE. They should believe that they can achieve anything.

Think of Martin Luther King, Barack Obama, etc. the list goes on.

Children of today are the adults and leaders of tomorrow.

They must be protected at ALL COSTS.

This Election is About Breaking Down Barriers

Gatekeeping in law enforcement has kept the same circle of people in power for far too long. This election is different. This is not just about a title or a position, this is about real change.

I’m not retired. I don't have a pension nor am I doing this for the sake of a second career. I’m in the prime of my life, ready to fight for the people of Mecklenburg County because I genuinely want to see change. I’m not beholden to the old systems or the old ways of doing things. I don’t have ties to the current power structures. I don’t owe anyone anything except YOU, the community.

Most candidates in races like these are looking to end their careers with a title or a bigger paycheck. But that’s not my story. I’m running because I see the need for true accountability, transparency, and leadership that serves the people, not the system.

This is why my campaign is about People Over Politics. It’s about breaking the cycle and giving the community the power to choose a leader who represents them, not the status quo.

I’m not here to play political games or climb the ladder. I’m here to bring change, protect our community, and be the voice for those who feel unheard.

If you’re tired of the same faces and the same broken promises, then join me. Again, this is not just a campaign, it’s a movement. And together, we can bring accountability back to Mecklenburg County.

I was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and raised here. I went to West mecklenburg high school, i spent my time growing up between Freedom drive and little Rock road.

I come from very humble beginnings.

This is very personal for me to correct the issues that we have in this county. Keeping our community safe, protecting the women and children of this county.

The hard working men and women who provide for their families.

The business owners who are looking to keep our economy thriving, The Deputies who help the police to keep our communities safe, and last but not least, the detention officers who are the backbone of the Sheriffs office.

I do this all for you. All of you.

It’s extremely important that you understand the people who you elect to serve your communities.

Your safety, your children’s safety, and the well-being of our neighborhoods depend on leaders who prioritize accountability, integrity, and action.

Personal relationships-seeing someone 2, 3, or even 5 times a week—are different from an acquaintance.

Politicians generally fall into the acquaintance category. They’re more concerned with looking good than helping people. It’s easy to think you know someone just because you see them on TV or at an event every 4 years.

This is why I say I am not a politician.

I am here to serve the people ONLY—OVER politics.

Stay blessed, Mecklenburg County. I will keep educating you.
