If you haven’t read Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer…You must. Every bit of this book touches my soul. didn’t realize I needed to pick this back up and finish it. I’d given it back to the library because my time was up and I had only read a few pages, maybe another time. She sent me a copy thinking I would enjoy the read. Boy was she wrong, I’ve embodied it. 💕

I had to do something with these tomatoes pilling up on the counter. So I tried my hand at making tomato sauce. Omg, SO GOOD. Basic recipe ⬇️

🍅Baking pan full of tomatoes. I used all sorts and sizes.
🧄Fresh garlic (the whole thing! Can’t have enough garlic).
🥣Toss everything in olive oil and spread out in one layer on pan.
🧂Sprinkle with salt and Italian herbs.
🔥Roast in oven until tops begin to brown (I used the convection setting on 400• for about 30 mins). Then let cool.
🌪️Drain juices off pan directly into blender. Squish tomatoes out of their skin and set skin to the side. Tomatoes and garlic into the blender! You can strain the pile of skin and remaining juice into the blender once that’s all done!
🧅Add salt to your liking, onion powder, and some more herbs too. Blend til everything is liquid! TA DA!

You could also roast peppers and onions and add them to the mixture. So many variations!

🍝I browned some ground sausage and put the sauce, meat, and parm over spiral noodles. BUSSIN’.

This was the hardest damn art project I’ve ever attempted. Thanks Pinterest. 🫠. It’ll occupy a ton of your time though! A quick search will show you a million different sea creatures to make. And they’re a perfect way to use up those Amazon boxes and packaging paper! I want to make Scarlett a whole wall of ocean friends 😍.

I can 100 percent verify that this goofy looking Tromboncino Squash is delicious. Like better than a normal squash or zuchinni! And so far it has not been taken out by the squash vine borer! It is a grower though. I’d suggest a big trellis. Which I did not do. It could grow to the sky if you do it right!
