I just really miss making things and it’s making me angry that there feels like no time to do anything creative, ever. Anyone else? I did manage to squeeze out some coffee scrub bars for Christmas gifts over the weekend. That right there is the very last drop of soap I had from my shop. 😭

I was so excited for Scarlett to see a working pay phone in LA 🤣. Almost had her call Mimi collect and leave a message to pick her up. But does collect even exist? Can you call to a cell phone?! 🤷‍♀️

🪾West Observatory Trail 🌳Griffith Park🥾LA🍁

Is Griffith Park a treasure to LA? Because wow, the little portion we enjoyed was beautiful! This must be a complete respite from the typical city life. Central Park vibes! Fern Dell had so many huge old trees, I wanted to touch them all. After finding some on street parking I grabbed a coffee at and then we headed up the west observatory trail. We stopped as soon as we got the small peek of the Hollywood sign (it’s not a real close view, but luckily we saw it well from the air bnb and Beachwood Cafe) from the trail and turned around. The observatory views were gorgeous. This was the perfect way to get a quick taste of the famous Hollywood hikes and get our hearts pumping. I would definitely include more exploration of Griffith Park if we came back to Los Angeles!

☕️ My favorite eats on our LA trip🍟

1. - We loved it so much we ate breakfast at Beachwood 3 mornings in a row. The food was phenomenal! You’re greeted from parking by beautiful views of the Hollywood sign and surrounding neighborhoods. The interior is so cute, got my mind set on some yellow back at home. .scarlett111 was so sad to leave that passionfruit lemonade 2,133 miles away.

2. - If you’re a Fast and Furious fan this is a must do. If you’re not, still, a must do. The shrimp and fish plate was soooo good. They have a huge selection of drinks in their cases to go along with your meal, choosing will be hard! You also get a beautiful view of the surfers at county line beach from the outdoor seating and parking lot.

3. - Duh. You know an east coaster is going to be obsessed with what we don’t have. The In-n-out on Cahuenga was the best yet. Even after a short drive back to our air bnb. Til we meet again 😭.

🦞Leo Carrillo State Beach🏄‍♂️Malibu, CA🐚

Another must do beach in Malibu. It’s crazy to me how different a beach can be right next to another on the pacific coast. They’re just the same old beach with a different name all down the south Atlantic. Leo Carrillo was nothing like El Matador a few miles down the road. We even saw plain ol’ flat beaches in between.

An entire beach stretched with tide pools in a picturesque cove offset by the Santa Monica Mountains. I spotted a Sweet Potato Sea Cucumber and there were washed up lobsters everywhere! I didn’t know there were lobster! 😧.

We hopped back on the PCH and drove to Point Mugu to turn around and head back south. From the car Point Mugu was breathtaking. I’m sure it would also be worth a stop for some! West Malibu def gives you the itch to do that Pacific Coast Highway road trip. I think I’m bumping that one up on my bucket list 😍.

⛰️El Matador State Beach 🌊 Malibu, CA 🌵

It’s going to be obvious that day 2 was my favorite. There will be more than one post. 😆.

A spectacular drive from West Hollywood took us through the Santa Monica Mountains to the West end of Malibu on the PCH! First stop El Matador State Beach. GASP. The Rocky desert cliffs touching the chilly Pacific Ocean really puts our ol’ Atlantic shores to shame. I’ve seen the Atlantic, the Caribbean, The Gulf…THIS IS BETTER. We timed the tide just ride and we’re treated with sea caves, tide pools, and misty magic after a short trek down from the parking lot. Speaking of mist, there was haze and fog the entire trip. Takes some getting used to! I can only imagine what y’all LA folks enjoy on a clear day 😍.

🎡Santa Monica 🛹Venice Beach 🏄‍♀️California

We decided to make our destination this year Los Angeles and bring Scarlett along too! We did an AirBnB in Hollywood Dell, which was a PERFECT location for exploring the west side of LA. Y’all know I love the nature trips best. But there was plenty of it to be found in the hustle and bustle of LA. I’d def choose Los Angeles over NYC any day. Going to share my sheltered East Coast point of view over the next few days! Tip number 1: Don’t let the traffic scare you away from LA. There’s alot of traffic all the time but it moves. If you’re a decent driver you’re going to be just fine (I made be our decent driver 😅). 77 at rush hour is really about the damn same 🤷‍♀️.

Santa Monica and Venice beach were exactly what I imagined. Lively, colorful, interesting things to see nonstop. The walking path and wheeled path being separate was super cool! After making us walk 7 miles (oops), I’d def suggest grabbing a set of wheels and enjoying the bike path instead of walking. My favorite stop in Venice was the skateboard park! Those folks are fearless and so entertaining to watch.

Watching the leaves change to my favorite colors is one of the most peaceful parts of my year. Reminding myself to slow down and take it all in. The change has begun! It’s time for 3 months of fun!

If you haven’t read Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer…You must. Every bit of this book touches my soul. didn’t realize I needed to pick this back up and finish it. I’d given it back to the library because my time was up and I had only read a few pages, maybe another time. She sent me a copy thinking I would enjoy the read. Boy was she wrong, I’ve embodied it. 💕
