I had to go out in public yesterday. I was dropping off an Amazon return when a man and a woman were at the desk. I made a comment. The man made a joke. I responded to the joke with a funny comment. I then responded to my own joke-comment just as he was responding, and I said exactly what he was responding with.
The woman's face lit up, like "How tf did you--"
Then I said my goodbye and left with a sweet smile.

I don't think the remote Midwest knows what to do with me.

(To be honest, it's not even about being psychic; it's being a writer in a world where life and dialogue are just uber predictable.)

Just a few more days with the kiddo, so we went fishing early this morning, and Brownie made sure to leave her with another memorable day. Coffee knocked over, tackle box knocked over, shoelaces pulled. You'd think he's a cat. 🤣

And in the time of writing this, a coyote just meandered by the house with a bounce in his step. I have a spot where I work and write on a couch right by the front door, so when anything walks by, I get a front row seat. A roadrunner a few days ago. Blue jay yesterday. Coyote today.

I freaking love this place! There's just something so wonderful about being in a place where we're the abnormal presence. Nature is just doing its thing while we're here, enjoying it in silence in this tiny little house. 🥰 I have nothing but time, energy, and opportunity to appreciate existence/god/the universe.
