Both cards are affiliated with Green Dot Corporation which is headquartered in Austin, TX (CEO George Gresham), I have called their so-called Corporate Customer Service number (866-652-4611, option 1, and enter ext. 2667) on several ocassions and ended up speaking with someone with an American name, that had a foreign accent, that promised on more than one ocassion, verbally and in writing, to "close my account" and "refund my monies." It has been over a year since my first request and I have yet to receive my over $2,000 in refunds (see attached image of one account).
It has been a waste of time filing multiple compaints with all government consumer help agencies (CFPB, Federal Reserve, FDIC, OCC, etc...) as well as the BBB, several State Attorney Generals (AR, CA, TX, UT), political representatives, and all major media outlets.
Last year, Green Dot was fined over $40 million-dollars for fraud and other adverse issues with their consumer base (https://www.federalreserve.gov/newsevents/pressreleases/enforcement20240719b.htm) which includes low income persons that shop at Wal-Mart. That demographic is least likely to have the resources to fight back which is more than likely the reason why no one has stepped up to assist those that have been harmed.
As such, please "share" this message with anyone that you think may be or has used a Wal-Mart or GO2 Bank card!
P.S. -- I used their cards after being ripped off by major banks via their predatory fee system!
