It’s easy to judge someone by where they are.

But a prison sentence does not tell the whole story.

Some people behind bars are working every day to become better fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, and neighbors. They are learning, growing, accepting responsibility, and preparing for a second chance.

At the same time, not everyone walking freely is making good choices.

Character isn’t determined by prison bars. It’s revealed by the choices we make, the lives we lead, and the way we treat others.

Before you judge a person by their past or their circumstances, remember this:

Everyone behind bars is not bad… just as everyone who is free is not good.
