🚨 South Carolina Republican Senators just stunned Trump and national GOP leaders by stopping a controversial redistricting push in an attempt to eliminate Congressman Jim Clyburn’s Democratic district in our state.

The proposal sparked national headlines after lawmakers warned changing district lines while voting was already underway could create chaos and legal problems. Several Republican senators broke ranks and sided with Democrats to stop the effort.

Josh Edwards and Christi Cox have violated the due process of Fort Mill residents by ignoring the BZA ruling, denying council hearings, not responding to formal appeals of permits, and numerous other egregious actions.

⏰ Last night the SC House stayed up until past midnight debating and ultimately passing a newly redistricted congressional map with a final vote of 74-37 to make South Carolina a full red stronghold before the primaries.

While this could remove the only Democratic seat in the state - this could also backfire, with each district now having an even slimmer Republican margin.

Splitting Fort Mill between Districts 5 and 6 is risky. Our local voice gets diluted, and suddenly parts of our fast-growing community are in a district that’s been safely Democrat for decades.

I'm curious to see who steps up: Potential new candidates in the 5th (with Ralph Norman likely losing Governor’s race and getting out of politics after selling out Fort Mill to Silfab) and hopefully a formidable Republican challenger in the reconfigured 6th (I've spoken with Paul Dans who said he might run for the new 6th) .

Fort Mill needs a fighter in Washington who actually understands our values and growth challenges.

Thoughts? Smart move or playing with fire?

👀🏗️ Fort Mill is about to break ground on a massive new $25 million Operations Center

The focus of the new center is to centralize and modernize how the town handles public works, utilities, fleet maintenance, storage, and day-to-day municipal operations.

Many of Fort Mill’s crews and equipment are still operating out of different facilities downtown, including the historic 1938 armory near Elliott Street. Back in 2011, Fort Mill had a population of around 11,800 people. Today, the town is pushing nearly 30,000 residents after exploding by roughly 136% in just over a decade.

The new campus will sit on roughly 33 acres near the end of Banks Street and will include:

✅ A 17,000-square-foot administration building
✅ A 14,000-square-foot fleet maintenance facility
✅ A nearly 17,000-square-foot warehouse
✅ Almost 39,000 square feet of covered fleet and equipment parking
✅ A vehicle wash building
✅ A covered fueling station
✅ Modern infrastructure designed for the next 50 years

Once operations move out, the historic armory property downtown could finally be redeveloped into something entirely different.
