Our documentary Purple Dreams has had an incredible journey — debuting at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival to a sold-out, standing-room-only crowd, screening at festivals around the world, and even taking the stage at Lincoln Center.
Now, I’m thrilled to share that Purple Dreams has found its perfect home on PBS NC.
Premiere: September 4th at 9:30pm
I'm so grateful to everyone who has supported this project along the way — and I can’t wait for new audiences to experience it!

Purple Dreams Premieres on PBS North Carolina

PBS North Carolina—one of the largest PBS stations in the nation—has long been a beacon for powerful, mission-driven storytelling. I have deep admiration for the dedicated and talented team there, and I fully support their commitment to education, the arts, and community voices. That’s why we are proud to announce that PBS is the new home for our award-winning documentary, Purple Dreams.

We’re officially PBS-bound, with our first broadcast set for Thursday, September 4 at 9:30 PM.

Purple Dreams is a story about hope, determination, and the transformative power of arts education—especially for students facing adversity. The film follows the passionate journey of students and educators at Northwest School of the Arts as they take on the monumental task of staging the iconic musical The Color Purple.

Their story will inspire, challenge, and uplift you. We hope you’ll tune in and help spread the word.
