One of the unexpected gifts of publishing the Wishes anthologies has been discovering other books created with a purpose.

Recently, the editor of I Love the Fresno Chaffee Zoo reached out after learning about Wishes and Wings and Wishes on Wheels. Although we had never met, we connected over our shared experience of finding meaning in our second acts.

I was delighted to receive this charming lift-the-flap book, inspired by the editor’s own family visits to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. A portion of the proceeds supports the zoo’s conservation, education, and operations programs.

Wildlife conservation has always been especially close to my heart, so I am grateful to have learned about this thoughtful project and to share it with others.

Our exchange reminds me that children’s books can do more than entertain us. They can help us connect with one another and support causes that matter.
