BLACK BIZ: This fall in Uptown Charlotte, Ayanna Puryear will open Clip an all-inclusive grooming studio for independent pet groomers.

Puryear is currently renovating an 810-square-foot space at 810 East 7th Street, Suite 111, to accommodate multiple groomers and several kinds of pets, including dogs and cats.

“Many groomers told me that they don’t have anywhere to go outside of a commercial grooming studio unless they work out of their house or get a mobile truck,” she said.

Puryear wants the space to help new groomers launch their businesses with less stress and help established groomers lower their overhead costs.

Clip tenant agreements vary from six months to two years, and “booth rent” ranges from $300 to $400 per week based on contract length.

A new pet grooming studio designed to be a plug-and-play operation for local groomers will open later this year in Uptown Charlotte.
