Flight 0018 takes us to Finland, where we will try Kyro 's Wood Smoked Rye Whiskey. Kyro was founded in 2014 when friends converted a dairy to a distillery (a great repurpose!). Made from 100% malted Finnish whole grain rye, it is matured in ex bourbon, French oak, and new American oak, barrels. This smoked rye is crafted to honor the old finnish tradition of the "Smoke Sauna". And smoked it is! Beyond the first hit of smoke, it is peppery with hot honey and oak. Not a beginners rye. This would go perfectly in smokey rye cocktails. 3.5/5 cannoli

Flight 0017 sends us to Kentucky, where we find New Riff 6 Year Old Malted Rye. Crafted from 100% malted rye it's aged for six years, Bottled in Bond without chill filtration. Ordinarily, not the biggest fan of rye, but this definitely puts a "New Riff" on Rye. It's hot, sweet, fruity, with mild spice and not Rye forward. If you're not a fan of traditional Rye's this may change your mind. 4.7/5 cannoli

Flight 0016 takes us to Shanghai where we try Hai Seas Distillery's San Oaks Whiskey. Founded in 2020, Hai Seas uses local Chinese grains and spring water as well as barrels made from French, American, and Chinese oak....San is Chinese for 3, signifying the barrels from 3 continents. As expected, it's heavy on the oak, slightly sweet, with some vanilla. A nice pour that gets better after the first sip. 4/5 cannolis

Flight 0015 takes us to Japan where we sample Akashi Japanese Blended Whiskey. Akashi comes from the White Oak Distillery which was officially licensed in 1919, but dates back to the Edo period. It was Japan's first Distillery to obtain a whiskey license. Distilled from wheat, barley, and rey, it is sweet with a slight smokey flavor, and a hint of caramel, and a bit peaty. 3.9/5 cannolis

Flight 0014 returns us to Oregon, where we find Oregon Spirit's Bottled in Bond Bourbon Rye. Founded in 2009 in Bend, this whiskey is crafted using Oregon winter wheat, aged 5 years, and is 100 proof. It's grassy, wheaty, and light. 3.8/5 cannolis

It's flight 0O13, and we are headed to Lovingston Virginia. A mere 3 hours from the Sunday Gravy Hidden Kitchen is where we find "Courage & Conviction Double Cask Reserve American Single Malt Whiskey", by VA's own Virginia Distillery Company. Doctor George Moore came to VA from Ireland in the 1970's, and n 2011 Dr. Moore started the VA Distillery Company. Doctor Moore soon passed, but his family continues his dream. This pour is aged for at least 6yrs in first fill bourbon barrels and European red wine casks. This is a very warm whiskey! It's fruity with hints of apple and citrus and a bit of spice. Perfect for a fall night at the fire.

One of the best events of the year! So much fun to watch. Always special and fun to see what the teams uniforms will be. This year both teams focus on 250 years of service. The Navy's uniform is inspired by the USS Constitution. The Army's uniform has the theme of "Service and Sacrifice", with the numbers outlined in purple to honor the purple heart recipients. Very cool....as for the game, take Navy -6 and the under.

Flight 12 means we are half way through, and headed to Portland Oregon, where we sample Westward Stout Single Malt Whiskey. Aged in stout seasoned casks it is 92 proof, it has a nutty and chocolate flavor. This would make a great after dinner drink with your dessert, or right in your coffee. 4.5/5 cannolis
