A mass shooting on South Street left three dead, eleven injured, and devastated the Girard College community. Among the victims was Kris Minners, a 22-year-old RA and mentor known for his dedication, kindness, and vibrant spirit.

Victims ranged from 17 to 69, many innocent bystanders. The chaos left families grieving and the city shaken. A growing memorial honors Kris and the other victims.

🚨 TWO ESCAPED NORTH CAROLINA INMATES CAPTURED IN ASHEVILLE AFTER DAYS-LONG MANHUNT; FACES FELONY CHARGES FOR JAIL ESCAPE 🔒

Michael Miles and LiShawn Knott, who broke out of Vance County Detention Center while facing drug trafficking and gun charges, were captured nearly a week later at a home on Old Farm School Road.

Authorities say the arrests were made without incident. The men are now back in Buncombe County Jail and face additional felony charges for jail escape.

💔 150-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE - ALASKA FATHER KILLS WIFE AND 14-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER, TEXTS THEIR LIVING CHILDREN "I MISS YOU" 🔫🕯️⚖️

Jalooni Blackshear, a former prison officer, shot and killed his wife, Raechyl Blackshear (35), and their 14-year-old daughter, Jayla, then fled the state while impersonating them, sending messages to their surviving children saying "I miss you" and wishing one of them a happy birthday.

The murders occurred after years of abuse and terror. When Jayla reported the incident to the police, Blackshear silenced both her and his wife forever. Authorities tracked him to Staten Island, New York, where he was apprehended.

At sentencing, the judge called his impersonation after the murders vile, cruel, and premeditated, and sentenced him to 150 years in prison. The deaths of Jayla and Raechyl have deeply saddened the community, and they will be remembered by friends and teachers.

😡🐾 ARKANSAS COUPLE ARRESTED FOR HORRIFIC ANIMAL ABUSE: ONE ALLEGEDLY SEXUALLY ASSAULTED A DOG, FOUR OTHERS DIED — SENTENCING UNDERWAY ⚖️

Crystal Honeycutt, 25, allegedly engaged in a sexual act with a dog and allowed four dogs to die in her home over just one month. Her husband, Daniel Honeycutt, 30, has also been arrested as part of the investigation.

Police say the situation came to light after a witness went to the home to use the laundry and saw the abuse firsthand. Officers found dying dogs and no food, prompting immediate intervention.

Crystal waived her right to a jury trial, receiving 120 days in county jail, a 60-month suspended sentence, and a lifetime ban on owning animals. Daniel’s case is ongoing.

Anyone who harms animals is a danger to society — this case is a heartbreaking reminder of the cruelty some people inflict.
